I'm planning to get a BT555 but after having read review on the Galaxy W6, I'm confused on what to get. I could save a lot of money since the W6 cost less than half.
I'm currently using a premade DHS wood for a serve-loop drive type game with RPB and I need something thinner, softer and more flexible with some spring and is great for the short game. Any comparisons of the W6 with the BT555 or BT550 in terms of: -thickness -short game -speed -softness/flex -weight ? I play Cpen by the way. Edited by Re1Mu2R3 - 03/08/2012 at 1:43pm |

I have played with 2 BT555 for 10+ years. I also have a W6. Rubber - Palio Blitz, AVX Sterco, various SP 802, 802-40, 799
The biggest difference between the 2 is that the BT555 has a much more crisp and direct feel than the W6, so I would give the edge to BT555 in the touch game. The touch and feel part is subjective, if you like crisp feel, get the 555, if you like a little more muted feel, the W6 is better. Speed/spin are close. Weight/thickness - I pay no attention to this, both blades are comparable in weight and have good balance. The W6 does play slightly better with the SP I mentioned. The W6 is a very nice blade and I wouldn't hesitate recommending it, especially at the price. If $$$ is not an issue, I would take the 555. My coach, an ex USA olympian, uses a 555 when giving lessons. |

I think the 555 is a little thicker, faster if I remember right. But the limba outer ply is a little softer. That was my take on it as I recall.

Excellent as I plan to try SP as well. Only issue now is the thickness as I'm currently using a 6-ish mm blade and I need something thinner for more fluid RPB. |

Unless they have changed something since a few years ago, the W-6 thickness is 5.7+-.2

Bump. Any comparison between OC CR and BT 555? Which is better for smashing? I hear the extra hard surface of OC CR makes it easier to smash.

BT555 is easier to smash. It is a bit thicker than OC-CR. Both have great catapult effect, but OC-CR is more flexible, thus harder to smash.
