The consensus is that hinoki 1ply doesn't translate as well to shake.  After the success of ryu at the olympics there was a surge in 1ply jpen sales (and prices) which I think eventually spilled over into the shakehand market.  I don't think you'll find many players actually using it.  It's been tried and rejected long ago.

It would be as good as Borko (or perhaps better) for me if it is lighter by 10 grams.

Maybe if someone make a blade with 3 layer: hinoki (3mm), balsa (4mm), hinoki (3mm) and has a hollow handle. your wish can come true, aeloiah. Light as a feather, soft touch....
