At some point, people (moderators) need to decide if politically incorrect analogies are acceptable on a public forum just because they reference underrepresented groups. In this case, it's clearly unnecessary and being used to say that there is something wrong with "looping like a girl". |

Competing with jt99sf for most desperate trolling for mod attention is not something someone like you should be striving for. -- In hindsight, since giving the mods benefit of the doubt didn't work out so well last time, "looping like a girl" is a reference to the vernacular idiom "throwing like a girl" used above. NextLevel knows this, but still wants to test his belief the mods are so dumb they'll fall for his purposeful misinterpretation. Edited by AgentHEX - 09/23/2013 at 6:31pm |

It's just that the mods seem to be tolerating or for some reason ignoring your inherent rudeness, but using the phrase out of ignorance can be excused. But in any case, I can point out statements that are offensive whether the mods pick up on them or not. Both statements inherently foster the kind of gender stereotypes that should not be part of a public forum - if you like to use such language with the kind of crowd you hang out with, feel free to do so. The vernacular idiom is outdated, as are many similar idioms because of the environments they foster. I would recommend that you stop using them because as much as we don't have many women posters here, it does not help our cause in any way to degrade them. |

I guess we'll see if this transparent fishing for the right mod to buy this feigned righteous indignation works out.

I have one mom, one sister, two nieces who have three and two daughters, one wife, two daughters, one mother in law, one sister in law who has two daughters... I am surrounded by women, have been all my life and I do know what I am talking about. Heck! even my cat is a girl and you should see the beating the neighbor's huge dog takes when he gets too close to my house. My point is women do not feel threatened nor disrespected at all by agentex saying "looping like a girl" and they do not need patriarchal umbrellas; they abhor those and see them as the true weapons against their freedom. The way I see it you are the one who lowered women tonight. |

Tell you daughter if she can't loop well that she should stop "looping like a girl". Or tell your daughter if she can't pitch properly that she should stop "throwing like a girl". IF you do that often, let me know. I have sisters and mothers and cousins as well, and they dislike the use of negative gender stereotypes. AgentHex is broadly rude. You were blind to it when you were a moderator, so I see no reason for you to change that stance now. Edited by NextLevel - 09/24/2013 at 8:21am |

I'm assuming the mods might have a few feelings in addition to rude when you consider them to be so stupid and easily manipulated. There've been quite a few threads objectifying women in
TT and other actual instances of real misogyny thus plenty of opportunities, yet this little white knight act was nowhere to be seen. Don't trying to act more clever than you are because people see through this sooner or later. |

Haha. Typical AgentHex. So only a "stupid" and "easily manipulated" person would believe that using phrases like "throwing like a girl" are sexist and that because women are not here to complain, we can use such phrases. Rather than taking a stance on what is right and changing the atmosphere, they should simply let it go. And rather than fixing the behavior, we should emulate those who engage in it because it is all over the forum.
Considering a woman beautiful is not objectifying her, but in some contexts and when done in some ways, it is definitely improper. And in fact, when a fellow forumer complained about comments made about Sabine Winter and decided he would stop posting here because of it, it reminded me of how such things are because when I am the brunt of them as an African man, I find it offensive. However, when I am not the target, I am often oblivious to it until it is brought to my attention. And after that statement, I realized that this is a public forum and people can read what others write and became more aware of why even if such behavior has its place in certain circles, it should not be a part of this forum. And this was fairly recent - Sabine won in Belarus not more than a week or two ago.
Fatt, who is no longer a moderator, managed to report and get Dedema2000 banned for 3 days for saying that Ovtcharov got a wild card to the World Cup because Ovtcharov was White and for saying it in a way that was indecent. Of course, maybe Fatt was "lowering all White men" with his report.
The point here is that such language is wrong. If you want to engage in such behavior, feel free to do so. Like I said, everyone can draw the line where they want to. It's one thing to disagree with my view, but the one thing I know is that no one with any daughters will be telling them to stop "throwing like girls". I am simply appealing to your decency. For the record, I have not reported that post or any others by AgentHex to moderators.

Sure, because putting a women on a pedestal for their looks isn't really misogyny in your expert feminist opinion, while using a colloquialism as a muse is.
Keep digging, it doesn't get any less pathetic. BTW, it's you who actually think and act as if the mods are so easily manipulated, while I'm just pointing out the obvious. Know that most folks have opinions about the mentality that considers the latter more "offensive" than the former. |
