i have been playing for 4 years. my first tournament i won. i am an u13 now i play at a national level. i have won 13/15 munster(my province) rankings.
i haven't lost a munster rankings in 2/3 years. my coach is afraid that if i play cadets next season i will get bored and i could lose some matches because of boredem.
i am currently ranked no.3 in munster u17 so i will always get a good match in u17 and i would be able to play seniors and play for munster.
what do ye think i should do?

How about not playing tournaments for a while? In the meanwhile, play more adult players with diverse styles |

it is hard to play adult players because my club is mostly juniors and you can only enter 2 events (cadet+junior)

I meant play them in your club, in the league etc. Perhaps you should cut down on the tournaments for a while... look at what it did for Williams sisters. |

If you want to keep improving, you really need to challenge yourself at every opportunity. If you can play in the U/17 and it will be more competitive then that would be my choice. I grew up in a small town where there was not much Table Tennis and once I became the best player in my town I found it difficult to improve. It was not until I moved to a new city where there was more competition that I once again started to improve.
So in short, once you have become the best in your particular grade, area or age group, try to challenge yourself so you can keep improving. Good luck. |

Always play better players at every opportunity, regardless of how bad you may get beat. Just keep your losses in perspective and learn why you lost and what you can do to improve instead of getting upset because you are used to winning and now losing more.
