Hi all,

Would anyone please tell me which XIOM Carbon blades (Axelo, Strato, Ignito) and maybe Zetro Quad is similar to Primorac Carbon in term of speed, spin and feel?  Thanks so much!

Axelo is the fastest stiffest most insane blade I have ever used.  Faster than PC by far.  Beautiful construction, feels great in the hand, perfect weight distribution, but I just couldn't play with it (I use a Viscaria which is already a kind of fast blade).  I gave it away, my friend loves it. The reason it is so stiff and fast is because it is really thick. Strato or Ignito may be closer to PC because they are thinner, but I have not tried them. Xiom blades are really nice though.  I just haven't found one that I like better than my Viscarias.  (Another one I tried is called the Control Absolute Carbon, which is also pretty fast and quite stiff).  If Viscarias disappear I may switch to Stradivarius.

Yeah, XIOM builds good looking blades and I believe that they are great blades too.  And I also agree with you about Axelo, it's probably too fast for me.  I'm kinda debating between Strato and Ignito.  I'm more of a mid-distance looper and I like PC's feel, touch and ability to create enormous spin and the power needed from mid-distance.  Ignito might not have enough power as Strato but I just want to make sure I'll get the right one because I want to stop EJing for a while.

Maybe I should be happy with my Stradivarius right now (yeah, I have the Stradivarius), but I don't think I can generate enough power from mid-distance with it as I would like to.

Thanks for the inputs, Baal.

Problem with Xiom is not enough people use them so it is hard to even have a hit with one before buying.  Bad if you are trying not to EJ.  Whereas with Bttfly, it is pretty easy to find someone who has one of the most popular blades.

True, none of my club players or also players from another club that I visit one in a while play with Xiom blades.  I'm the only one who owns a Xiom blade (Stradivarius).  I really like Xiom blades now, and I like to try one more before stopping EJing and starting thinking about what's wrong with my strokes :).

The number of websites that sell Xiom blades are also limited and some of them do not have all of the blades or they do have some old blades.  The Strato or Ignito produced in 2008 are different than the ones in 2010.  I like the head shape of 2010 better than the egg-like head shape of 2008 and some websites just have 2008 versions but not 2010.  The one who has 2010 versions do not have the handle that i like (straight handle) so I think I should be happy with Stradivarius to concentrate on my techniques and game plans more than blaming the blades (yeah, it's childish but what else can I do? :>).

I don't think you'd want that. Strad is way harder than Viscaria and plays quite differently. You'd be better off with something like Galaxy W-1, T-7, Nexy Hannibal or Photino.

Stay away from Ignito. Its hard and slow. Not ALL+ slow, but slow for a Hinoki-Carbon blade. Better blades out there with that speed.

Zetro Quad is decent. Its fast, like a thick Hinoki-carbon blade should be, but the blade has some flex. Reminds me of Amultart but a little crisper and maybe slower. It has the acceleration of Amultart, but I don't find my shots flying quite as far off the table. LOL I've never used a PC but I had a Gergely 21 and Zetro Quad plays similar to Amultart and Gergely 21. Maybe close to PC but I don't know.

Xiom Strato (not Stradivarius) is stiffer and faster than Ignito and Zetro Quad. I bounced a ball on one a kid at my club had and it was a rocket. Made for smacking the ball right off the bounce, vicious blocking, etc. I didn't like it at all.

But then again, I don't really play with thick Hinoki-carbon blades. I prefer thinner blades.

Choose the one (Axelo/Strato/Ignito) that is closest to the PC thickness.

Zetro Quad is different construction altogether.

LOOPMEISTER:"Stay away from Ignito. Its hard and slow. Not ALL+ slow, but slow for a Hinoki-Carbon blade." loooool........
Strato is pretty similar to PC, quick, soft feel (softer than Primo), ideal for mid-distance rally, very comfortable handle, excellent processing.  intensive drill needed.
Ignito is slower than Strato, but has still enough power for mid-distance play. I´m sure all 3 (together with Axelo) products from Xiom Hinoki-Carbon family are great blades.

I just play again with Primorac Carbon and I find that it has more power and also it is more consistent than Xiom Stradivarius.  With Primorac Carbon, I can make my loops back from mid-distance while with Stradivarius, I can't loop as consistent and as powerful.

I'm debating between Xiom Strato and Xiom Zetro Quad now since both of them have Hinoki outer ply but the inner plies are different.  And I can only afford to buy just one right now.

Maybe I should try Strato for now since its structure is closer to Primorac Carbon than Zetro Quad.

I am telling you - strato. It is not the same, but the closest.
