This blade comes very well packaged and with a 1 yr guarantee as does all Xiom blades.
The quality of craftsmanship is top notch although at first after looking at the very thin top limba ply I was a little worried that it would not hold up to having rubbers taken on and off,so I lightly wiped 2 coats of sanding sealer on and off the face and a couple heavier coats around the edges.
The speed of the blade I would say is about the low end of OFF,it has a decent vibration which I like.
My style is a close to the table attacker and after playing with this blade for a few weeks now I could not imagine theres a better blade out there for my style of play and it is a very well balanced blade.
When looping close to the table it's very easy to create whatever opening shot's you like either high spinny loops or if you use more contact and a bigger swing you can get fast opening loops.
The blade has a soft feel and although it's not like a carbon blade for aggresive blocks it's better for block placement and you have much more control of your blocks.
Short game is very consistant and there are no touch issues that come with some soft blades.
When playing away from the table upto 4-6 feet is fine and there are no speed issues but if you play more than 5-6 feet away from the table you will need a faster blade as this was just not meant for that.
I would recomend this blade to anyone who plays a close to the table attacking game, this blade rewards you when you take proper swings and you don't have any fear of them going long.
I give it a 10 out of 10 it truly is a pure quality blade.
      Rubbers I have used Catapult,H3,Coppa Tagora,802-40,Relop Attack

Alfie,

As you know, I have been playing with the Maximus for 4-5 months now and I continue to be impressed with its playing capabilities. As you suggest, it's strengths lie in close to mid distance play, though it's still quick enough (but not blazingly fast) far away from the table. Of course, you need the short game and short/mid looping control to get to the far away stuff...

@alfie

Nice review.  How does this one compare to your Darker 7P-2A.7t?  Thanks.

Graeme,
For a LONG time I have been looking at blades and would always look at what's for trade or sale on TT forums but since playing with the Maximus I have totally stopped looking.
I have tried from a Galaxy 896 to an SC and most in between but nothing is as complete as the Maximus in every part of the game. When trying to find a negative aspect of the blade I could not think of any except when playing well away from the table and when I am far away from the table I normally win 1 out of every 5 points no matter what blade I use.
Every blade I have used I could tell there was something missing, they all have their good qualitys but also have their drawbacks but the Maximus just seems good at everything.

The Darker blades have both goneShocked

The Darker was a fair bit faster and a bit harder and stiffer I liked it so much for BH short pips,I just didn't have as much control on the FH with the Darker as I have with the Maximus. The Darker was a bit better at smashing but less dwell and feel than the Maximus.
My game is under control more now and although my BH is not quite as fast the improvement in what I can do with my FH more than makes up for it.
It's almost like the game got easier to play overnight

Good review... I believe this would be my good (rather...best) replacement of my Kreanga Carbon blade
