I've just tried a Yasaka Dynamix 17 at 92 grams and find that it is great with Hurricane III 2.2 on FH and BH. VERY solid wood feel (not carbon hard surface but far more solid than either Clipper or P700) that gives the H3 the speed it needs.
The Dynamix 17 head size is in between the Ishlion and the Gergley. Combinations tried and now discarded: Ishlion 76 grams -- Nice hard surface feel but not enough power. Avalox P500 84 grams -- Good feel but too much flex and not stiff enough for me. Clipper -- Faster than P500 but you still get too much flex on impact that causes uncertainty in ball direction. Avalox P700 89 grams -- Seems faster than Clipper but still not stiff and fast enough. Gergley -- Stiff enough w/o being too stiff but hate the handle. Blade face is oversize so using Chinese rubbers front and back make it too heavy. |

if most of those all wood blades you have tried are too stiff, why not try carbo/arylate combinations?

the yasaka dynamix 17 has 17 layers, including carbon layers, synthetic fiber layers, hard wood layers and soft wood layers. its very fast and powerful but it still feels like a nice wood blade. i have never tried a blade that gives me so powerful and consistent attacks.
many world class top players now want to play with dynamix 17 and they have been very satisfied.

How is Dynamix 17 compared to Avalox BT 777 or 700?

The Dynamix 17 is much faster and much more powerful. I also find it has made me much more consistant. In addition to the blades I originally listed, I've also used the Kreanga Carbon, Maze, Kong Linghui Special, and Primorac Carbon. So far I've only used the Dynamix 17 for one evenings play, but compared with the P700 in the same evening, the improvement in feel, consistancy and power was for me dramatic. The improvement was also dramatic in the eyes of my 2200 level coaching opponent that evening. |

Another thing I've noticed is that I really like solid blades with a 7 mm thickness. Blades that are constructed as a structural panel (light core sandwiched by carbon outer sheets) have good speed at low speeds but seem to top out when hitting or looping hard. Blades with a distribution of strength through the 7mm of thickness seem to have a better top end. The Dynamix 17 seems to be really good at both low speeds and high speeds.

i second what was said above. i've tried it out on a few occasions and i thought it had excellent feel though it was a bit on the heavy side for me.
if i could get a lighter one, i would most definitely play with it. and so, i highly recommend it for anyone who's an offensive player. some of you might disagree, but for me the feel was similar to a VIOLIN. |
