Little mini-review on these two. Haven't really tried the current crop of tensor / glue effect rubbers and tend to stay away after my experiences with F*, JO Silver and so forth - those rubbers were fun, but twitchy when playing short and kind of one-dimensional at my level of skill, everything is just fast and spinny, no gears / nuance.
Well I've had some used sheets of Zeta and Pryde for a while now, finally got around to trying. Put them on a Violin. These are both so much better than the last crop! Both rubbers have much more touch and control, but if you hit hard the spin and speed ramps up. Great! The real test was in the short game, and I just tested them both, pushing is so easy + consistent - did not expect this at all. I also had 100% consistency looping long underspin balls, better consistency than my Higher / UFO setup?! These are dangerous weapons that won't cause you to shoot yourself in the foot. So which is better? I'm probably not the right person to ask, but I find Pryde to be a little spinnier at the baseline, whereas Zeta has a much richer set of gears which I prefer. Zeta sponge (mine is hard sponge, marked 47, feels 41) also feels better as far as my preferences go, especially for my forehand - Pryde is a little soft. What a nice surprise - the manufacturers are getting better. Now I'm tempted to try these on the p500 - this soft blade brings out the best in these rubbers, lot of bite for looping and even better touch. |

Chronos, I know that you own and have tried many blades, but I am just curious, which one is your main set-up and which one is your back-up?
Sorry for being off topic here. |

Sorry for a silly question, but who makes Zeta. Pryde is Yasaka. Am I correct?

Hey Doraemon, no problem!
I played with a YEO for many months - the EJing really calmed down during that time. Then 2 months ago, I switched to the p500 which I've been using until now. YEO has an amazing feel, but was a little too fast at the time - p500 has better touch. But I miss the YEO, I will revisit this blade when my level improves some more. My current collection of commercial blades is: Violin, Acoustic, p500, Baum Carrera, Clipper. I'm expecting a HK ST from ttrubberman any day now. I have a Darker Speed Grip Legato-2A ordered from iruiru but its on backorder for the time being. I really like the p500, YEO, HKing, legato etc family of blades at the moment. B.C. and Clipper are too fast. Violin and Acoustic are wonderful but different from the p500 etc so they are in the Armory for the time being on backup, but I find them both easy to play with. |

Actually its a major oversimplification to call the B.C. or Clipper "too fast" in an unqualified way like that; don't want to lead anyone astray with this comment. There is a lot to those blade, clipper especially has impressive touch for being such a beast. But they are a 'click' above the other blades mentioned in default output for a given stroke.
