Tough evening right now for LIN Yun-Ju.   Mixed doubles at 18:00 and then Xu-Xin waiting for him at 18:40.

On a positive note, they are both on Table 1. Smile

AMAZING!

FZP played some brilliant aggressive early backhands throughout and FZD simply didn't bring his A-Game.

Yes, he was leading 2-0 against Franziska, looked business as usual but ended up losing 2-4. Quite a few uncharacteristic mistakes, pushes going off the table.

I would say that this really leaves the 2nd spot for the Tokyo Olympics wide open. Clap (Arguable both for China AND Germany Tongue )

This is probably an underhand tactic by the cnt ~ letting Kasumi beat some Chinese players in unimportant matches so the Japan team have no choice but to pick kasumi for the next Olympics. Hope the Japanese don't fall for this trap. The Chinese would rather face kasumi than Hina Hayata in the next Olympics, that is for sure.

SYS does not even pretend that she removes the non-playing hand out of the way on the serve.

The Japanese team's selection process of picking players with

1. the  highest ittf ranking
2. highest number of victories against cnt players

can easily play into the hand of the cnt.

if the cnt want to avoid a more formidable opponent ( eg Hayata ) in the next Olympics, all they have to do is keep losing to an inferior opponent (eg  Kasumi ) , then they will have their wish fulfilled.

The adoption of this selection process means that the cnt can manipulate / control  who the japanese pick for their 2nd olmpics singles spot. The Japanese can only blame themselves for this mess they have created.

Man, Ito Mima is very strong.
She took out Li Jiayi easy.

Ishikawa Kasumi beat Chen Meng - that's quite a surprise.

haha the cnt is very clever , but their tanking is obviously against the spirit of the game.

Poor Hina hayata, she has been manipulated out of the 2nd Olympics singles spot.

and who can forget how she cheated the japanese pair out of the wttc doubles gold medal?  I don't have respect for dishonest players like that, regardless of nationality.

HH had no chance to make Olympic Singles even before Australia because of Japan's dumb decision to base the spot on WR so I don't believe CM (who also is trying to get an Olympic spot) threw this match.

Beating the Chinese can only solidify kasumi's world ranking. It also increases kasumi' s number of victory against the Chinese ~  which is also another stupid selection criteria of the Japanese.

Yeah I'm sure if someone was throwing a match, they would go up 3 games to 1 to leave no room for error and risk the chance of accidentally winning.

wants / prefers Kasumi to play singles in the next olmpics, to be precise. Cnt are obviously tanking.

you are right about HH if whatever NL said about her trying for a spot in the team event as a double player is right.  JW might be right about CM throwing the match - I have to watch the match first - so this a quite an accomplishment for JW (right about something) - but everything else he said is without substance (as usual)

Those who really think The CNT wanted to let go Chen Meng’s match, I really think you are suffering from the paranoid syndrome.... yes it is possible for a CNT player to lose a match without wanting to lose it, yes it is possible for every player to lose focus in a match. That happened to CM last week Vs Hirano but she escaped.... and why SYS did not lose in Korea and fought back to win the match? That was a real opportunity for the CNT to push Ishikawa.... the truth is : CNT would never intentionally let go a match and they are really not afraid of Hayata who’ s game only has 1 option: risk and.... that’s all. Today, Ishikawa was full of confidence and CM lost her focus, wanted to outpower Ishikawa but made mistakes and got nervous.
