'Did they change the rule? In LIN Gaoyuan Vs JANG Woojin, Lin took towel break whenever he wanted.' - Egghead

I should think the tournament referee/ organisers must have dispensed with the 6 points scored toweling rule for the tournament on hygiene issues. We see the similar instances in the Xu Xin v Lin Yu Yi match.

about XX's FH:

commentator: ...It's seamless, s-e-a-m, it flows.
lily: yes, it's flawless.

they form a good pair to comment.

Lily Zhang should pursue a commentator’s career after she retires

She is of course so insightful as an top level athlete and thanks to her calm personality and choice of simple words, all the people, neophytes, beginners, intermediate and advanced players can all enjoy her commentary without her ever saying "for those who do not know the game, bladediblah". She just talks and everybody understands!
Her co-host is also enjoyable and both had a casual conversation without ever walking on each other feet. It is hard to achieve such a balance without experience with each other doing the job, unless the right personalities are at play. Who is he?

CM leads 2-1 now. Chen Meng has such beautiful eyebrows!!! I wonder if she works on them a lot or they are just natural. I am on the fence but her play bends me towards the latter. Heart

3-1 those 2 women are so close in level, I can't see what makes CM superior other than looking for crazy angles, she wants the angle and it seems like she learned earlier to exploit them so she does not have to think to go for them, it's not a decision she makes in the middle of the point like other players. When such an angle is available, it creates a vacuum for it and her ball is sucked into it.

We are still in the 1st game, 4-2 FZD: do you remember how ML took care of ZJK in Rio? I predict the same thing here.

edit: here goes my prediction. I have been thinking that ML is getting obsolete and I have been kinda stupid thinking so.

I only saw the last two sets but CM was on fire!! Would a have loved to see the first few to see how it was so close.

This ML vs FZD match is already CRAZY!!!

I was never a fan of Adam B. but the current commentator is definitely thumbs down.  He is almost trying too hard to speak "proper" english!

What' wrong with that? English is a beautiful language and for those who like it as a 2nd, we try to respect it, that's it, we do not want to show off. What a negative remark containing "almost" and ""proper"". Your post is a kick under the belt to somebody starting a new job. I hope people do that to you when you start your next job. Shame on you for being so negative in the middle of the stellar match of 2020, a ceremony of table tennis, the best tt moment of the year I am living live now.

living live? huh? LOL

No worries, I screw up like that all the time...

At 2-0 for ML with a dominating ML strong in the 3rd game, I am sad today like I was in 2013 in the wttc 1/2 with wh. I really hope FZD shows his leadership now.

I think now the same for FZD than for Harimoto: they build up strength through defeat to better prepare primordial energy for Tokyo. I feel like a loser atm but it's only 3-0 and fzd can still come back!!!

edit: 3-1 now, my gosh!!! it's the best match of the year, jumping to the ceiling all the time.

GO FZD!!!

Better strategy from Ma Long this week.  Beating ML 2x in a row is a semi-impossible task.  He is just too good on too many levels.

Great match - couldn't watch it with audio on without waking up my family, but it is a reminder that the gap between ML and FZD is razor thin.  FZD on the men's side is definitely not the same dominance as CM on the women's side.
I like putting heavy topspin on the ball...
Mazunov
FH: TBD (MX-S, C1)
BH: C1
Lumberjack TT, not for lovers of beautiful strokes. No time to train...
