Cannot wait to watch this event.

Will there be any black horse coming out very strong?

Kanak is there. Hopefully he'll let it go for good. He won't play for a club there but for his country and himself so maybe he can take a few liberties apart from the technique evolution roadmap the coaches impose him. I am not sure how those things work...

I'd like to see Pitchford or Calderano take it.

It will be quite interesting to see how well Lin Yun-ju and Harimoto will fare... They should have grown quite a bit since the last World Cup.

Would be great if Calderano can take it. He's a fun player to watch.

I would be very surprised if there was anyone (including Ma Long) who can stop Fan Zhendong in this tournament...

Hard to know. FZD has not reached the level that he can beat everyone easily like the 2015-2017 ML.

Not for the faint of heart nor for those that don't thrive in the treacherous to bet against Ma Long.

Thanks.

Haha well I think Fan Zhendong pretty much figured Ma Long out by now, he hasn't lost to Ma Long for quite a while already.

===================

Kanak is in Group 2, with Pitchford Liam and Chuang Chih-Yuan.
Unless Kanak comes in the last (loses both matches), he will advance to the main draw.

Both Pitchford Liam and Chuang Chih-Yuan are good players.

I hope Kanak's coach has good strategies prepared against his opponents.  He is playing well enough to qualify but those guys are tough.

there's always "Hope" when given a "chance" but he has had some good learning in Germany...as long as he's "positive' anything can happen; that said, i too called him as a "loooong shot".

in the end what most in here are concerned about is we have matches to be "armchair critics" over :)

let the matches begin and the critics fly LOL

i believe Jorg will again be in his corner as with Feth, Jorg too has valuable advice and tactics for Kanak to use.

It'll be a great learning experience at the least.  The changes in tactics and techniques in Kanak's game have improved a lot and you can see him trying out new things from tournament to tournament.  Great opportunity for him!!!

I would not be surprised to see him take down one of them and I am quite sure he will put up a very good fight and make one or both of Pitch and CCY earn it.

just realized it's Friday 13th...fun fact...let's see how it plays out  for -  *looking at the players representing today* LOL

The ancient Chinese regarded the number 13 as lucky. The ancient Egyptians also thought 13 brought good luckFriday the 13th is considered an unlucky day in Western superstition.

Kanak loses a close one in the 7th. Had a really good chance. I thought pitchford would be the one he had a better chance with... will see what happens with Chuang

Even though he didn't win, it is a step in the right direction.  Hopefully he can beat CCY and advance to the next round.
