Thanks! Where will they post the actual entries to the tournaments?

You can also click on the Player List tab. WTT seems to update that faster than the Overview page:

The first tournament will be hosted in Fremont, CA at Table Tennis America.
Players already confirmed: Mattias Flack Chuang Chih Yuan Yukiya Uda Kanak Jha :: Shunsuki Togami (2022 Japan Men's single champion) Kou Lei (undefeated player in USA currently coaching at TTA) Cheng I-Ching Chen Szu-Yu :: Lily Zhang Shin Yubin (South Korea rising star) and many other top US/Canada players will participate as well. We can safely assume the international players will compete both in TTA and Westchester afterward. regards, klhfans |

My picks to win the 1st tournament are Yukiya Uda and Shin Yubin. Hard to win back to back tournaments separated by 3000 miles and 3 days.

Ito and Uda likely canceled their Mixed Doubles entry for both WTT Feeder USA tournaments because Ito wasn't able to enter into the Singles Event of both WTT Feeder tournaments due to her high WR. In fact, Feeder events were intended to be for players with low WR as these Feeder tournaments are lower-tier events that are meant to help players transition to the elite level. According to page 27 of the WTT Handbook (WTT Series and Feeder Series), which can be downloaded here, no Top 30 players are allowed in Feeder events. "Players inside the Top 30 of the ITTF TTWR, at the time of the entry deadline, are not permitted to participate in WTT Feeder Series events. However, a maximum of two (2) players will be permitted to participate if they are from the LOC host Member Association as a direct entry. " The only exception to this rule is if the player gets a WTT nomination for the Feeder Event. In WTT Feeder Events, even host wildcards cannot be used on players outside the Top 30, which is different from Contender and Star Contender events, where host wildcards can be used on players with high WR. On the same page of the WTT handbook, it reads: "Host Wildcards can be used only for players outside the Top 30 of the ITTF TTWR. WTT Nominations are excluded from the WTT Feeder Series Play Down Restriction Rule." However, there are only two (2) available WTT Nomination slots for each Feeder event. The problem is that in the USA WTT Feeder events, there were three (3) Top 30 Players who initially applied: Mima Ito, Cheng I-Ching, and Chen Szu-Yu. WTT opted to give their (2) WTT Nomination slots to CIC and CSY, so Ito couldn't enter the singles event as there were no more WTT Nominations available. I made this inference because when the initial singles player list was released for the Feeder Events, the names of Ito, CIC, and CSY were all not listed. However, Ito and CSY were already listed in the Mixed Doubles event while CIC was listed in the Women's Doubles event. I checked the entry list a few hours later and CSY and CIC were suddenly listed in the singles event, but Ito's name was still absent, so one can infer that CIC and CSY got the WTT Nominations since after all, WTT Nominations can only be handed out AFTER the initial entry list is made. The next day, when I checked the entry lists again, Ito and Uda had canceled their Mixed Doubles entry. The likely reason is that Ito and most professional players won't be willing to travel to the other side of the world to play ONLY DOUBLES. It's highly probable that if either CIC or CSY wouldn't have gotten the WTT Nomination to play singles, they would have canceled their doubles entry as well. Traveling from East Asia to the USA just to play ONLY doubles in a lower-tier event isn't worth the time and effort. If Ito had been allowed to play singles in the WTT Feeder events, the Uda/Ito pairing would have likely pushed through, and Ito would have "unretired" from Mixed Doubles. It's a decision that was likely influenced by her recent losses. She may have wanted to play Feeder Tournaments in an attempt to "get back in form" and agreed to start playing Mixed Doubles again to give her an additional safety net to be chosen as the 3rd member for the 2024 Paris Olympics. She's trailing in the Paris Singles Points Race and missing the Olympic Singles event is a legitimate possibility for her. However, if her pairing with Uda proves promising, it gives JTTA extra incentive to choose her as the 3rd Olympic member (just like how JTTA chose Mizutani as the 3rd Olympic team member in 2020, primarily with XD in mind even if a lefty/lefty doubles combination with Niwa was not ideal for the team event). |

I went to the WTT Feeder this morning. Due to this is still a thursday workday morning, there are only a few spectators(less than 50). The seatings are very few if you notice in the WTT livestreaming.
I am sure by friday evening, it will be crowded as the saturday and sunday tickets already sold out. The preliminary matches are pretty decent. I stayed briefly and had to leave for work. Will go back after work this evening when main draw starts.

Terrible draw for the 2 highest ranked Japanese female players (Sakura Mori and Haruna Ojio) who are scheduled to meet each other for their 1st match.

Yeah, that was disappointing for him, but Kou Lei is in great form and at his home club. He was ranked 20 at one time so can be dangerous. With the initial points removed, Shin Yubin is now top seed. CIC and CSY are in the other half.

This Shinozuka kid is really good. So far he's beaten Pletea, Falck, and Duda. He meets CCY in the semi-finals.

Sasao is playing SYB exceptionally well. Sasao has the talent, but has had trouble sustaining it. I remember her giving Nagasaki all kinds of trouble forcing Nagasaki to really dig deep to comeback.
On a side note, I love the camera angle.

I was wrong on both my picks (Uda, SYB), but congrats to Asuka Sasao. She kept mentally tough even after the garbage yellow card (time) given by the umpire.
