Hi all,

what do you think is the best poly ball for spin based play apart from nittaku premium (a bit pricey)
We had Joola Flash before, which were pretty decent, but now we have Gewo Ultra SLP, and they play like shit.

So is there a better spinny budget ball than Flash?

One more addition:
Which ball works best with tacky chinese rubbers with hard topsheet?
Softer balls would be better?
Also I read somewhere seamed balls are spinnier, is it true?

The DHS ball at USD .55 ea from ttnpp is the best value poly ball including seamless. Seamless XSF and clones are fine, but they cost twice as much as the DHS. The NP is ridiculously overpriced next to the DHS.

DHS D40+ (and re-labeled versions of this ball) or Nittaku Premium, take your pick.  And I have pretty much played with every kind of plastic ball there is.

D40+ is made of a material quite similar to Nittaku and it is pretty easy to switch from one to the other.  They are a little heavier.

Well, I play with H3 Neo  and, IMHO, the spinniest ball is BTY G40+. Not the most popular opinion. Also, I did not say the "best" or the most "consistent".

Definitely the fastest ball, that's for sure.  Spinniest, I am not sure.
I like putting heavy topspin on the ball...

The G40 spins a lot but the spin does not affect arc or bounce off the table as much as other plastic balls because of the very smooth surface.  That turns out to have a big impact on the how the ball plays.

On one of the other threads igorponger posted a very nice paper he found from a Japanese laboratory where among other things they assessed how the coefficient of friction of a TT ball surface affects how it plays.  It was very significant (for trajectory as well as bounce off the table in response to spin).  G40+ by far has the smoothest surface, it is actually smoother than celluloid, whereas every other plastic ball out there has a rougher surface.

There are a few people who like it.  I am not one of them.

KINGNIK 40+ is produced in China at the same factory, with the same machinery as Joola Flash, using the same plastic (acetate cellulose). Price is very agreeable, indeed.

You can order from the factory stock directly.

Be happy, don't worry ....

Interesting... can sb compare Flash/Kingnik to D40+?
Also, thank you Igor, but I cannot find a way to order the balls on the site you have linked.

Edit: By the way, today I had a practice session with sb from another club who brought his own Gewo Ultra SLP ball, but it played totally different from the one I brought. Most noticeably it was much, much faster.
I think we might have gotten a really bad batch, since that ball barely bounces and drops very early, completely messing up my timing and positioning.

I never played but heard good things about Joola Flash ball.
A friend of mine said it´s the closest to celluloid ball.

There is a pretty good thread somewhere in which Jay Turberville tests the weights and such.

A while ago he traded balls through Aliexpress, and now you need to ask him again. Bulk orders would be most welcomed

Joola Flash is very good - basically like a Xushaofa but with more consistent quality.
