I had a similar racket to that back in the 70's, a Cor Du Buy Jack Howard. Straight handle, very nice shape. It didn't have the lens on the handle, just a decal.

Cor du Buy rackets were certainly very fine rackets. In the early 1960s I owned a Cor du Buy Loop Drive model, a 5-ply with outer veneers of what looked like red oak, and assembled with Butterfly D-13 rubber. I could do everything with it. Well not everything by today's standards, but everything except the loose grip pendulum serve, which had yet to be invented, by early 1960s standards.

If Mr. AlexRosmarin is not familiar with this blade I think it could be self-made from someone or for a friend of CDB. This blade is looking to me same as 2nd series RUBIN. You can check easy if it is with 6.0mm thickness or close. By the way, I still have trouble to recognize one old Butterfly blade...

Deti, (long time old friend
![]() I've often wondered -- is this Cor du Buy blade shape where the now famous, "JO-Shape" came out of? It certainly resembled the Banda blades that Waldner played in the 80's. What year is this blade?

I have Bert van der Helm custom made blade by Cor Du Buy with 9.0mm hinoki wood. I received it broken and restored it, now it plays wonderful. Do you have interest? The blade is 98 grams with huge head and ultra comfy handle. It has letter B on the bottom of the handle, I suppose this blade was testing one for Bert himself. ![]() |
