Sorry - are you talking about the apostraphie, Speeling was never my better subject. If were talking about the similar readings, yes they are correct, and infact both rubbers play very similar. Maybe a pip structure change, and not a sponge hardness change. |

I have a brand new Acuda S2 2.0 blk on my fh but i couldn't find the time to play with it yet. And i was considering S3 2.0 for the bh side just because of its softness. If we put the durometer readings aside, when you press your finger on the rubber, is S3 clearly feels softer than S2 or are they feel very close in softness. If they are very close my second choice is Hexer Powersponge. Thank you for your reply pingpongrob. (If i did some typos, i feel sorry for them)

How does the sponge softness of ps3 compare to big slam ? Is the sound anywhere near that of big slam?

While I am not sure if S3 is as soft as F3 Big Slam, it still has pretty good sound.
However, after experimenting with it - I would recommend water based glue ONLY. I got so sick of an uneven bond with Stiga BTG Syncro glue that I gave in and peeled it and used rubber cement. The rubber cement changed the feel of the Acuda S3 and it lost some of it's softness and dynamic "jelly like" behavior. |

Acuda S3 2.0 on Acoustic Coming from Narucross GS Soft, the speed is just a tad slower with more spin. Before Narucross GS Soft I used Bryce Speed FX, Acuda is slower than Bryce but much more spin. At max stroke (full body loop swing), I can hit it as fast as Bryce with a lot more spin. I'm not sure if it’s because of the sponge that Acuda feels slower than Bryce Speed FX when countering. Control is great! Spin on service is excellent. A toss just above the head created more spin for me versus a twice the length toss using Bryce or GS Soft. Very pleased with the rubber but man did it soak up the glue. So put a good coat of glue the first time. I use Butterfly Free chack. I have some adjusting to do with service return since I wasn't able to really test this against better players. Blocking is another great attribute. Since I was having issues keeping the ball low on service return, my opponent was opening easily. Since his shots were somewhat predictable, I was able to block them back with so much pace. I was able to do one punch block into his body very easily. That is one shot I want to get down. I put it on both sides since I wanted a little more oomph on the back hand. I was able to BH loop from 8 feet away with 1/2 force stroke with great arch and speed. I was using Inspirit Quattro UL Max Soft version before this. More spin with Acuda S3 and an obvious boost in speed. I may get Acuda S2 next time for the FH for a slight speed boost. While I noticed the rubber helped when not in the best position to perform a stroke well, a proper stroke produces a spinney, fast ball. I used it for about 2 1/2 hrs yesterday. I can only hope the rubber has a long shelf life. ![]() Edited by bOOm_cORNr_sHOt - 11/01/2010 at 11:55am |

I've had a couple of opportunities now to hit with Acuda S3. Very soft, nice click, easy to spin, med/high throw, tight arc. The major downside that you notice as soon as you're in a rally is that S3 is very reactive to incoming spin! I did not feel it was similar to T64 (my current rubber), which is firmer, faster, and shoots longer. I would not choose S3.

I disagree that it's very reactive to incoming spin. It is waaay less reactive to spin compared to T05 and even less reactive than T64. |

Heavy as a backhand rubber. A cut piece black 2.0 comes in at near 45 grams.

having used the XVE and now the Acuda S3 I can defnitely tell you a few things hardness: S3 is a tad harder than XVE control: XVE=S3 Spin: S3>XVE, the S3 topsheet is so grippy Throw Angle: XVE=S3, its high Speed: S3>XVE, im finding the XVE as a slower rubber since i switched to Joola explode before in my bh then went back to XVE because of the Xplode's durability (it lasted only a month in my bh). the speed of the S3 is faster by 15-20% than XVE Control: XVE=S3 |

Dissapointed as I was hoping for 3 months at the minimum. |

Thanks bear,
I use XVE as Jpen and was looking for this information on acuda series. I feel that XVE has not a high angle for top spins, like T05 or even Tackness Drive. And is some slow. Anyway, by your coments, better choose S3 over XVE. Someone knows if S2 or Baracuda has higher angle than S3? |

I had a very different view. Maybe because of different blades. I had S3 max and now XVE max on my FH of JSpeed 90 cpen and this is what I thought: Hardness: XVE is significantly softer. I think this is mostly due to the softer topsheet. I didn't find S3 to be that soft. I have Energy Xtra on my BH and I think the XVE is slightly softer than that. Control: After a day of getting used to the XVE, the XVE has the edge in control, probably due to the softer feel. Spin: I didn't really notice much difference here. Maybe a slight edge to S3. Throw Angle: XVE higher than S3. I found the S3 to be lower than I like. It definitely took some getting used to the S3 after playing with Energy Xtra. Speed: S3 is faster.

It's really amazing how much time and effort some people put into measuring the hardness, spin, etc. I've played with Donic rubbers for more than 10 years, and I can honestly say Baracuda and Acuda are 2 of the best rubbers they've developed.
One reviewer said he only got 2 months durability (3x a week) with the Acuda S3. I and other players that are using it are getting about 4-5 months! I used to play with Desto F3, then F3 Big slam and while both of those rubbers played really well they only lasted about 2 - 3 months at most. The label on the packaging says that the durability should last about 50% longer than other Donic rubbers and I've found this to be true.
Acuda S3 is one of the best rubbers I've ever played with, and I also disagree with the review that it's more sensitive to incoming spin than Tenergy. Are you kidding me. Tenergy is one of the most sensitive rubbers out there. Acuda S3 has a loud click and I agree with IconTek, don't use rubber cement as it changes the characteristics of the rubber. I've found that true with other rubbers as well. The rubber cement seems to take some of the pop out of the rubber, so I always use the water-based glue.
Try a sheet of S3 and I'm sure you'll like it. As for the new Baracuda Big Slam I have a somewhat mixed review of that rubber. I thought it would be the F3 Big Slam rubber with the Baracuda topsheet, but it's not. I tried it a couple of times and didn't like it as well as either Baracuda or Acuda. It's not a bad rubber, but it seemed to have slightly less spin than the Acuda or Baracuda, and it also seemed to have a lower throw.

So for the higher throw angle I'll try Baracuda.
I found some people say that 2mm is faster and has a Higher angle than MAX. Does anyone here have the same experience? |

Hi,
My BH technique is ok, not tht fluent. so will Acuda S3 max or 2.0 mm will be better suited. I will require more control and slowly developing technique. |
