Perhaps this is a combination racket - for those who want a J-pen handle but a bigger blade face as in C-pen. AmHinoki calls such blades "Chirean" (as in Chinese-Korean) Big smile

Nittaku has them too, probably before MIT did. The cork is a lot softer so it allows you to grip down on it comfortably like a Jpen.

Of course. You have a 1-ply, therefore you are a member... even if you don't know about it my friend. Wink

I think the only shakehand player that is in the top 50 thats using a 1PH is Sharath-Kamal Achanta.

Is that true?

Hi Aeoliah,

Where did you purchase the Darker Hy blade speed 90? How much was it? What is the quality like? Dimensions and does it come in 10mm?

Thanks in advance

Hi Maktime, welcome to the forum ! I bought Darker Hyblade Speed 90 from iruiru. 9 mm thick costs 19.200,-  and 10 mm costs 20.800,- Japanese Yen plus shipping cost. To tell you the truth, it is more or less like other Speed 90 to me. Dimensions are just like the other Speed 90.

Hi Aeoliah,

Thx for the reply!
I see I see I may try and get a Darker Speed shake in the near future. But I want it in 10mm. My current WRC is a 10mm and I'm loving it so far. Just trying to adjust myself to it before next seasons comp!
Either that or else a mid size oversized WRC in 10mm would be sick!

Anyone have any exp with the Kokutaku Bishu No 1 Specialist in shake hand 10mm?
What are the dimensions of the blade?
Can one actually order one from Iruiru in 10mm? Or is it only available in 8.5mm?
Playing experience compared to American Hinoki and other Hinoki blades?

Thanks guys

A recent purchase of mine.

Compared to my American Hinoki Kauri, this blade is lighter but thicker. Also slower but with a bit more control. The Kauri is definitely faster in a more bouncy way which makes the Senkoh an easier tool for controlling short serves, but not by much. I tried it with Gambler reflectoid but I am about to try it with T25FX in 1.9mm.
The Kauri is 7mm and the extra 2mm causes me to hit the ball every now and then on the side. Also getting under those skidding heavy backspin balls demands a conscious effort to open the bat. But I know that it's only a matter of getting used to it.

I bought an American Hinoki 1-Ply Northern White Cedar, it's finished and should be here soon.

Finished weight / thickness is 69 grams @ 9.5 mm Smile

I also got another rubber, glue, and edge sponge for it (and protection for rubbers).

Hey right now I'm using a 1-ply Senkoh-1 10mm made from cypress. It's a fun blade to play with, but the quality is mediocre and I desire more power behind my drives along with more sensitivity in my touch shots, so I've turned to investigating into Kiso Hinoki blades. Ever since I started playing TT, I've always wanted the BTY KTS, but after a while I began to realize that there were other top grade kiso blades at half the cost and similar quality. My favourites remain to be the KTS, Speed 90 and Super Cho but I wanted to know where I could buy these blades new or around how much they would be for a good quality used one (Jpen only). What other high quality kiso blades are out there that I can look into?

I got my American Hinoki NWC 1-ply 7 days ago, but the server was acting up and wouldn't let me post.

Weight is 69 grams Wink

Copy and pasted from OOAK -

I got my American Hinoki Northern White Cedar 1-ply today!

Kevin said that the finished weight is 69 grams, and my scale agrees with him, once I convert ounces to grams.

The blade is light, with a very good balance. I feel like I am holding a handle and not a blade, the head feels weightless.

Bouncing a ball on it, I feel like I am holding a trampoline, great feedback and I feel the ball popping up when I put any force in. With no motion on my part, the bounce isn't that high, indicating a great short game.

Finishing is superb, very smooth, and the edges are not sharp.

The cork handle is very soft and squarish. My hand does not slip, the cork has a unique texture. The softness also encourages me to hold it tightly, which indicates that during a match, my hand won't bother me (it does sometimes when I play).

The NWC also smells good, an added bonus!

Bouncing the ball on the blade creates a loud, deep, reverberating sound. It makes my ears ring in the good way.

Weight in ounces:

Weight in ounces

Me holding it:

Comfy Cork!

Did it come already sealed ? On the first picture it seemed like it is not sealed, but on the second picture it looks sealed.

The blade face is sealed, but I need to (really should, and I will) put epoxy on the edges in order to decrease the likelihood of a crack if I ever hit the table (I have edge sponge for it, which will also help).

Hi All,

I have searched and read about 1 ply hinoki... but I am still not sure whether 1-ply hinoki blocks better than 7 ply?

Anyone can share some light here?

Thanks
