Can someone-Jim?-save me DLing all these by telling me what language the commentaries are in? I've got some of these games from before but all with Chinese commentators-are any of these different?
I have part of the Waldner-Samsonov match on VHS only and no way of converting/uploading it,alas. It was shown (last two games) on UK TV at the time.

The latest from gluon are from Eurosport, and the commentaries are in German.

Actually, to convert from VHS to a computer file only takes a good video card with composite inputs. Or if you have a VCR with S-video output then you need to find a PC with S-video input on its videocard. Not a very frequent occurrence but they exist...

Another way of doing it is to find anyone with a DVDW-VCR combo (I have one). Then you can play VCR and record it onto a DVD-R disc - files from it then can be easily uploaded. Let us know if any of these options is doable and we will help with advice.

Thanks Jim.I use a Mac,so I don't know if those things for PCs will work. One day I might fork out for a combi machine, but not in the near future.

Martin Dugas has got the Samsonov -Waldner match available from his site. You have to contact him and ask for a copy (very reasonable price). Also the Women's Final:-

Donic is germany national team equipement and I think timo boll has been always sponsored by butterfly

ya that makes sense... but i was trying to see if it was the TBS blade he was using, but it looks to dark in to be TBS!

In the match between boll and schlager,we can clearly see timo is using TBS(at the beginning)

They only allow three players from each country so the list from China was  Kong, Liu and ?? - but perhaps Ma Lin was not on it. Who was the third one in men's singles?

Ah-huh! OK, that's why Ma Lin was not in MS contention... despite being a World's vice-champion... they probably deemed him too young still...

It's also strange that Wang Liqin wasn't chosen then-he was overall ProTour winner that year.

Maybe that's why they chose Guozheng.
I have a video of the last game of the MD Final somewhere (pretty boring match, third ball kills throughout).Yes,sorry, video only,no conversion possibility yet.
I also hate the way Kong and Liu look during Sydney, like a pair of GI squaddies, crewcut and baldy.

It's just the haircut fashion in China at the time, I am sure...

Look at the 1970s players' haircuts... some of them look really ridiculous now.

Yeah but I see that as part of the same thing, military mentality as opposed to individual thinking.Kong is a good-looking guy but he looks awful with that haircut.

Waldner - epic strategy, serving long 95% of the time against Liu Guoliang during the Olympic semis..... and exploiting Liu's FH using that lethal down-the-line punch-block. He even shown his hand at 19-18 in the third set (potentially the last set), by serving long and punching Liu's return down-the-line, and executed the exact same strategy the next point! This is why Waldner is so great, what a great strategist!
