I've gotten a lot of different info on this blade from websites Some people say it's 5 ply, some say it's 9 ply, some carbon, some all wood, some say it's a speed demon, some say it's off- control blade. One of a Kind Trading says it's a 5 ply, control oriented blade in the low 80 grams, Yinhe's site says it's a 9 ply blade heavily leaned towards speed. Affordable Table Tennis says it's a off 7 ply blade around 88 grams. Eacheng has it at 8 speed 8 control and 5 ply.

Anyone see why I'm confused and can set the record straight?

I would trust yinhe's website:

speed  10
control  6
ply  7+2

I have one. It is 5 wood ply plus 2 layer of MC. It is a clone version of the Stiga Optimum Plus. Medium hard 5-ply wood blade.

Yes I agree. The weight is always tricky as there's always quite a weight variation... I've seen them between 80g to 90g.

So does it just not have carbon? I've seen half the places claim that it does, and where did the two missing plies go that the factory mention? Are they just really, really small.

I have a couple MC-1 blades. They have carbon. I "think" all the MC series have carbon.

I have a couple W-1 blades. They have carbon. The W-1 is known as "The Wood King". Go figure. Smile

I don't think the MC-2 has a carbon layer, if it does it must be wood colour coz I can't see itLOL

You are probably right. The carbon layers in the MC-1 are Very thin but easy to see.
Yinhe says the MC-1 is 2 carbon and 5 wood. They got that one right.Smile

That's about the most well made Galaxy blade I've seen all the layers are the same thickness:!)

Hi Rob,
The MC-1  I have also has the thin, black top plys. The next ply is a different type of wood than the MC-2 and the center ply is only a little thicker than those two. My MC-1 is a little under 6mm thick. Smile

MC-1 is 7ply (5wood plus 2 carbon) and of course the micro Crystalline Coating.

Yes that's right, carbon layers are plain obvious. The blades are nothing alike, apart from the coating.

The coating is actually quite handy, as you really don't need to seal these blades...

Nice picture of the MC-1 Rob. Mine looks just like that. If you bounce a ball on the blade, it gives a Real high pitch Ping sound. Must be the crystal coating. Doesn't even sound like the blade is made from wood. Smile

Sorry to dig out this old thread, but I just realized that Yinhe's website now says something completely different:
Speed:8
Contral:10
Layer:5
Thickness:5.7±0.2mm
Weight:86±3g
Handle:CS/FL/ST

Their English site is terrible, don't go by it.  The Chinese site states that it's 5-ply wood, with micro-crystals(MC) between all layers.  Thus, you can view it as 5 ply or 9 ply depends on whether you count the very thin MC layers as plies.  The MC-1 is 5 wood + 2 carbon + MC coating between the plies.
