Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with the Galaxy K-4? Does it really play similar to the TBS? Hoping to gather more input on this blade.

Thanks in advance.

Apparently the forum's search function never works for me. I did google it up and managed to get a few entries from mytt but i did not get much information on how it plays.

I've used a K4 and a TBS.  I was using a TBS for a while, then got interested in the K4.

Ordered 2 from Eacheng.  I noticed that there might have been quality control issues at the time - as the handle thickness (both were conic) were quite different.

With the K4 that I used at the time, i felt like it was slightly softer, and maybe not as fast.   On the other hand, around the same time - another person on this forum mentioned that his was a lot faster than a TBS.  This was a few years ago.

I acquired a new K4 from cole a few months ago and it is an outstanding offensive blade.  The quality of it is exceptional.  I still think that it's a little softer- but the speed is very comparable to a TBS.   It's a very solid blade that can handle most offensive styles.

Since i got my new K4, i haven't had a desire to try any other blades.   If you order from  Cole, you wouldn't have to worry about the quality control

Does K-4 have a hollow handle like the Stiga`s WRB system?

My old K4s did have a WRB style handle.  The new K4 i have has a handle that appears solid although I'm not completely sure that it isn't hollow underneath.
it seems solid tho

The Galaxy K4 I had definitely had a hollow handle, whilst having a good balance to it.

It was also a good blade.

How do you guys identify whether it is a hollow/solid handle? Physical inspection or....?

@aurelio
Well, I played with several Stiga's WRB (hollow) and non-WRB handles and K-4 balance is like non-WRBs. Since the head size and design are exactly the same, I would say K-4 has solid handle. Anyway, my Stiga OC with average weight rubbers (1,9 mm) is definitly ++ head heavier than K-4 with max thickness rubbers.

By the way, I got a 87 g K-4, from Ebay too. Link posted above is Eacheng Ebay's shop.

Peter you are 100% Correct - The Yinhe K-4 C.A.R.B.O.K.E.V definetely has a hollow handle.

i'm confused. some say it's hollow and some say it's solid. lol. say, if it is indeed hollow, does it make the blade head heavy when paired with heavier rubbers like Tenergy?

I dont consider Tenergy a super heavy rubber, I have tried the K-4 with Plasma rubbers and it felt quite good.

I have KVW and K-4. K-4 is harder by comparison, more power and a more solid feel. KVW  OTOH feels a bit hollow on harder strokes(flat kills especially) but is excellent on loops and loop kills. I was using KVW and wanted to beef up a bit with k-4 and true enough K-4 feels like a KVW on steroids. BTW , KVW is similar feel to the legendary Keyshot. I believe Galaxy has a clone of it, available here: http://www.affordablett.com.au/shop/product_info.php?cPath=1_37&products_id=446
I still like the KVW more.

For those who have used the K-4 and K-5, how do they compare against each other? Which is better for looping and overall?

Aurelio,

The K4 does have a hollow in the handle, just the same as the TBS and both are well balanced blades. like the TBS, the K4 is a very good blade and worth checking out.

Having said that, you already on a great looping blade in the Persson Powerplay Senso V1.

p.s  how well does Tenergy 05 and Outlaw work on the Persson Powerplay Senso V1. I have one and am contemplating trying Outlaw on it.

Thanks for the review. I also like KVW which I think is under-rated.

Tenergy 05 and Outlaw works great on my Powerplay Senso V1. My only gripe is that it is slightly head heavy, probably due to the hollow senso handle. But it's definitely worthy of a try.

Would I be right in thinking that Tenergy is on the forehand and Outlaw on the backhand?

I'm pretty sure the K-4 is similar though slightly slower than the K-5 I use, but it turned my Jo Platin Soft into a popping rocket producing machine. Much faster than my 7 ply offensive blade with the same rubber.

They have the  thickness of 5.8mm on the K-4 from the above website.  Is this correct?  5.8 seems to me a little thin.  Anyone know the exact thickness?  Thanks.
