From the picture it's the top ply that is the same with Violin. The middle ply and the secondary ply is different. Strangely it has the same small FL handle as Violin.

Thanks Peter,
I think you are right.. I compared my E4 with the violin pics from the net, they are similar but the core and 2nd ply is not the same :(
I hope it plays like Violin, though :D

I slapped on my LKT Rapid Soft and LKT XP Pro on this blade.
I am not an expert by any means, but have been EJ-ing for the past 4 months or so
Currently my favorite blades are 1 ply hinoki ones with soft rubbers.
I like control over speed. Dwell time is what I am after and I found dwell time and feeling in 1 ply hinokis..
I used the blade for 25 minutes..Rallies and what not, looping, serving, chopping and playing for a match.
The E-4 has that "vibration" feel like my Avalox P500 and P700.
Speed wise, I say it's at the same level with my P700 (I used same rubbers on the P700). The thing that I don't like about P500 and P700 is the vibration. P500 is too springy, it has too much vibration, P700 is faster and has less vibration.
IMO, the E-4 has less vibration, more feel compared to P700, does that make sense? It's not as springy and somehow the vibration feels different P700's vibration feels like the wood is dry-er. I can't describe it
E-4 has more "thud" or softer feel..
It has good dwell time, decent, at least. Compared to my Senkoh 85, it's tad bit slower (I have LKT XP Pro on that one too), I have to put more effort to get the ball over the net.
Blocks are a breeze with this blade..
Looping, decent, I'd love more dwell time for my taste.
I can't recall if Violin plays the same way since last time I used Violin, it's got different rubbers so I can't really compare..
I'll play again in 2 days.....So far so good, though..

Thanks for the review. How does it compare to your 7P-2A.7t? |

My second and third match were with this bat..
I put cermet on FH and my trusty Mark V on BH.
First rally, I felt like home.. besides the feeling, I think the blocks, loops, flat hits, it really resembles my 1 ply Senkoh.. But again, different rubbers, so it's not an a/b comparo..
But I am keeping this blade at least for now..
Built is best I've ever seen. No sharp edges. Handle is VERY comfy. Head size could've been a lil bigger though..

I tried some. The crafstmanship and look was nice, but I didn't think they played any better than other chinese blades that were cheaper. Certainly a cut below say w1 and w2.

Which model did you try, Cole?
My friend at the club tried it and he said it does remind him to his Violin, but again, different rubbers..

Major bummer here....I found that the head size of the Earth 2 is slightly larger than my Galaxy V1. I do not want to stretch my Palio Macro Era rubbers to fit, or play with over exposed wood edges. (top plys are hinoki) I just ordered a new set for this blade, so I may take a couple of weeks before I can let you all know my results.

All you need to do Rich is to put a couple of layers of kerosene on the rubbers' sponges and you will easily gain extra 1-2 mm.

Anton, the trick to the Violin and Acoustic blades is the glue, that's why they are so smooth and don't vibrate. I think if you want a Violin better buy a Violin, just to make sure, then you can get the L size handle (if you need a proper handle) :)

Already done, brother. Purchased a used Violin today for a very, very fair price. A shout out goes to robjkc for an awesome deal! EDIT: I'm still curious about the E4. Next time I have a spare $52 I may have to pick it up anyway. For the record, I'm still loving my XIOM V1 but I wanted a slower, more control-oriented all wood blade to have around for fun. You are (obviously) correct about the secret of those blades being in the glue. That hide glue is some awesome stuff, though very labor intensive from what I understand. Hence, the high price tags. I loved my Acoustic, so I have high hopes for the sharper feeling Violin matched with Thor's. |
