You are right that they didn't make it super-official with men - with women they officially declared that that is how it is going to be.

There will definitely be two more trials (internal tournaments) for both men and women, with the winner going to Moscow. On the other hand, they will surely also take the Pro Tour results in account. I just don't think that winning one Pro Tour will automatically guarantee a spot on the team, that would limit the coaches' options too much - they will surely reserve the right to hand-pick one or two players.

Everybody was so quick to annoint Xu Xin the next champion based on his performance against his teammates a few weeks ago. Oh well.....

Anyway, we can all look forward to Mizutani vs Lee Jung Woo rematch later on today.

Mizutani is more of a "compelete" player in JPN squad.

lol@ "some russian"....Igor Rubtsov is actually a great player. I remember someone posted a video of him beating Vladi Samsonov 4-0 in the first round of some Pro Tour two years ago.

To be honest, I didn't look at his results but on how he plays.  He really has some advantages, especially, being the lefty penholder with big, strong loops and quick footwork as well as how he can anticipate the next ball.

He's like Wang Liqin so I think he has some issues about connecting his forehand and backhand and probably he will need to work hard on it.  But I think he has all No. 1's requirements.  We'll see :)

I believe it is a big disappointment to him to lose too early.

You are so right about it.  I just posted a post regarding Xu Xin's lost.  But not excuse for him though.  It would be interesting to hear what Xu Xin says about this lost.  But I don't think they will broadcast it.  But I think Xu Xin will have to write a report about it to his coach :)

I don't see anyone making excuses for XX? I mean nobody is invincible right now. It just looks like the Chinese team is: I think the rest of the team lost only 1 game...
