Thank you for the uploads.

I really wanted to like the final, but watching it was almost a play by play diagram of what is wrong with our sport.

There were only a very few interesting points, with a seeming majority of points lost rather than won.

I believe it is caused by the following:
1) The overpowering nature of service
2) The overwhelming power of offense

It's amazing a game with such sublime depth can be reduced to core elements of deception and power.

Perhaps it is because offense is so dominant in this game (and particularly amongst the best chinese players), you frequently wind up seeing a lot of rushing and unforced errors.

All in all, you could show this video to non TT players and many TT players alike and they would be utterly unimpressed with the "evolution" of the sport to it's current state.

I think he needs to join Chen Qi in the potato-growing fields for a few weeks (or wherever Chen was photographed recently) and reflect on his good fortunes. If it weren't for his reflexes, speed and good luck he could have been a chicken-raising peasant somewhere in Inner Mongolia... perhaps that could be a proper motivation? who knows...

Yes, It's very difficult, only Zhang Yining has done it.

But If Both Qatar and Kuwait champions get guaranteed places on the team, Maybe somewhat too easy on the contrary, and , how to deal with Germany open's champion? also enter the name list?

On the man side there are a real battle, as to Wowan side, It's just a show, we all know, they must be Guo yue, Guo yan, Liu shiwen , DingNing and Li Xiaoxia.

I don't know, it looks more like an Avalox blade, different striping and much more red and gold in the circle on the handle. Either way though, he has changed his equipment often.

No, that was never said (except by you...). It was always 3 trials for the men, and the 2 remaining spots by coaches' picks. And for the women, a guaranteed spot for the player who would win both Qatar and Kuwait, which no one did.

5 players total per team in any case.

The third men's tournament will be on April 1-2; same format as before, with Li Ping replacing Zhang Jike.

I think that for men it was said they would have two trials and the rest will be determined by the training council.

For the girls - two or three trials in addition to Qatar-Kuwait winners of which would get an automatic place... but we can see that they didn't...

Results?

Quarterfinals:
Ma Long beat Hao Shuai 3-2
Chen Qi beat Ma Lin 3-2
Zhang Jike beat Wang Liqin 3-0
Wang Hao beat Lei Zhenhua 3-1

Semis:
Ma Long beat Chen Qi
Zhang Jike beat Wang Hao

Finals:
Zhang Jike beat Ma long 3-2 (went to deuce in 5th game) to earn spot on 2010 WTTC team.

Ma Long looked like he was falling apart a bit under the pressure. With his #1 World ranking he should be a coach's pick for the team even if he does not win any of these trials, so he shouldn't really be feeling pressure to win.

Women's results? Thanks! Smile

make it a bit difficult, but that's all -_-
