So what program do you guys use for editing avi. clips? In short, I've got a 25min length match (4sets) where I want to cut out one of the sets into a separate video.

What (free) program would be the best to do that?

i use cyberlink powerdirector...it's simple and easy to use, plus it handles all the HD formats =)

you have windows movie maker
or you can use final cut pro
or adobe premiere pro, theres lots
i lost my racquet

WMM is very easy but you won't get good quality. I would say it's good for beginners.

I use Premiere Pro and sometimes edit the audio in Adobe Audition.

Once the video is edited I convert it to Xvid format for YouTube consumption using the same program Jura12 mentions, VirtualDub with lame loaded as the mpeg3 encoder.

I haven't used free editors but there are some interesting articles here
