As usual, descriptions for rubbers are "about as useful as a pair of breasts on the back of a pig."
Has anyone tried it ? I somewhat did like the first Mercury, but I was put off because of its heavyweight. Is this one any lighter ? Thanks. |

Yes, it is considerably lighter - unlike Venus 2 which is heavier than Venus 1.
So far M2 goes very well both with all-wood and carbon blades. |

It's definitely lighter and topsheet is softer/thinner than the Mercury.
I also think the Mercury is a bit tackier..
I am going to play with it Monday.
Imago, I also have Venus II still in wrap, do you think it's harder than Venus 1?
Somehow this M2 reminds me of my old Venus 1...

I was going to say the same, then realised that the M2 feeling is more of a hard Euro rubber, while V1 looks like Japanese rubber produced in China.
Interesting as it is, one of the M2 pairs was 34 degrees, the other - 37. M2 has better spin than V1. |

More comments please Imago. What does it do good what bad? A comparison between 34 and 37 maybe? And if you say it's like a hard euro, can you compare it to a Inspirit ? Or H3 NEO commercial |

M2 has a good catapult effect - you can easily loop from mid and long distance, it is linear - controlled with the light strokes and powerful with the strong ones, a medium throw rubber, feels very tight - without the characteristic plyok sound some Chinese rubbers produce... Actually, I didn't play enough - they litterally ripped the rubbers off my blade.
Topsheet feels harder, sponge is softer. 37 is better on ALL+ blades, 34 - on TBS and up. Both are softer than H3 Neo. Edited by Imago - 09/06/2010 at 1:39am |

Depends on the gear. Down the scale is slower, up the scale is almost the same. Don't expect a $6 rubber to have everything.

I like it! Decent spin, good speed, a bit high throw on my 729-v6 blade (I will try it on my P700 next week, since V6 is pretty high throw). For $6, this rubber is hard to beat value wise.

Anyone know which topsheet + sponge hardness combination is comparable to Sriver EL or FX?
It is cheap and worth a try.... |

John, I like it best on my P700 and BT777.
If you think mercury 1 is a decent rubber, you should try this one. LMK!

Do you feel any difference between the red and black topsheets? what sponge number should I get for Donic-like feel? I like soft sponge.

John,
I got my black 34 degree, it has some splotchines on the topsheet that are not as grippy as the rest. The reds are perfect.
Then I ordered 1 more black and 1 more red, they are both perfect. (2 more coming )
I don't think you can get anything as soft as donic, unless if you meant Acuda S1 or S2..But nothing like Jo Coppa Silver, the topsheet is not as thin/supple.
But overall with 33/34 degree, this rubber plays like faster Sriver EL with tons more spin.
One thing I noticed is that on my last 2 sheet, sometimes I am in the hurry, I spray the cleaner, wipe it clean and put the plastic protection sheet, then I noticed that it starts to lose grip, then I applied olive oil to bring it back. Now I just don't apply that plastic sheet anymore. Maybe it was still moist when I did..

Still using it (red 37) on pair with H3 Neo Pro 39. Very nice and powerful combination, compatible at that. If one wants to develop one's TT skill and techniques, Mercury 2 is the universal answer.

Is this sticky like a chinese rubber or more grippy like the new tensor rubbers?

I'd say in between. It's mildly tacky and became really, really grippy. At least on my 2 rubbers.

If its grippy like the Palio CJ8000 topsheet, it'll be great!

For the sake of the comparative analysis, I am going to consort a black M2 38 with T05 2.1 on a HK. |

Great... Where is the best place to buy? I am seeing some sites selling but not giving sponge hardness options? Only the thickness.

Thanks for the site. Sponge hardness is available but no thickness.
Have sent a ticket to them. Anyone know what thickness they have? Price is fantastic @ $4 per piece. |

Indeed. Underdog, save us from the tyrany of T-reX!
I am trying to be fair and to give some chances to Tenergy, so will replace M2 38 with M2 36. Edited by Imago - 02/16/2011 at 3:30am |
