Apart from the Gergely, I think I'd be turned off from buying any of these just on looks alone. LOL

Woowoo return of the Power Drive! It was the most popular blade in north america for years. This version is version #3. Honoki and walnut plies for fast top spin game. If the latest version is a bit lighter it will be a huge seller........only if BTY Get's their pricing problems solved.

Is that Gergley called Gergley Alpha ?

Compact head and thickness looks very close to Fukuhara Ai Special.

Here's another one

Maze T-Tec OFF
  • T-Tec Technology
  • Very powerful and hard blade
  • Low weight
  • Very good handling with good feedback
  • Hinoki outer ply

  • Specs
    • 5-ply T-Tec
    • Handle: AN / FL / ST
    • Weight: ca. 80g

the best thing about gergely alfa is the size: compact. They mean 154x148. The first gergely carbon was 160 long.
I guess hinoki supplies are getting low and old trees are running out as well.

the power drive and gergely look interesting. i'm very curious if the construction is the same as the old power drive.

That Gergely blade looks professional. The new Power Drive looks to be a remake of the old HS Cryser which had a soft feel and was a dream loopers blade. The original Power Drive was on the stiff side and was great for hitting and looping but it was heavy with max rubbers. Hinoki and rosewood compliment the power game but it's doubtful the new model has similiar plies.

my current blade juic Nebula is supposed to be similar to the original Power Drive, rose wood innerplies and hinoki outerplies. fast, stiff and good feel.

Yes the Juic Nebula is very close to the Butterfly Power Drive. I found the flared handle slim though. Great blades for counter driving and smashing as well as looping. Back in the day a Power Drive with max glued Sriver was killer.

I think they look pretty nice, except for the Power Drive II and Defence X. Why is the Redox both in red and blue? I don't see a different model name on them, what's the deal?

Yes the original Power Drive had all wood plysand standard head size. When new the handle had to be sanded because it was covered in shellack to protect the hinoki wood grip. The second version had a compact head size and was offered with 3 handle shapes ST,FL, AN. and was a few grams lighter than the original. Power drive feel was stiff with a nice solid touch. Lots of reserve power for smashes.

this is the 5th version of Power Drive...i have 3 versions and traded the very first original version of it...
First was heavier Gold sticker and 0.2mm thicker and stiffer and faster
2nd the red sticker with the  thinner but larger head size
3rd they made the one that has a handle color like Korbel with plastic label in it
4th they made the last version the slowest and softest with writing on the face
this should be Power Drive V

Powerdrive 2 - about 5400 yen
gergely alpha - little over 8000 yen
defence pro - about 5500 yen
defence x - about 5000 yen
redox - about 4200 yen

but the real eshop prices will be little bit lower, hopefully as I mentioned.

It's how a model plays and feels.....I could care less about the cosmetics. A Player at my club has a mint condition Power Drive Classic he won't part with. I am trying to kill him with kindness :).

I wonder why they discontinue some blades ( successful ones )  and reinstate it after a while in a new shape and form ? for instance they discontinued the original Keyshot and reinstate it in a new shape " Keyshot light " while something like Mazunov in the running for ages ...
