Chen Weixing had things his own way as the opposition (Liam Pitchford) posed no danger.

Fortunately, Wang Liqin won despite He Zhi Wen's rather obvious hiding of the serve:

Wow... yes he did. And I have projected him to win this tourney... Xu Xin barely beat Gavlas. What's up with them - are they sick or smth?

That means we will have Wang Hao vs Chen Weixing and Wang Liqin vs Igor  Rubtsov on Table 1 - videotaped.

Same for Guo Yan vs Fan Ying and Feng Tianwei vs Sun Beibei - all very interesting matches.

Too bad that "super-match" Zhang Jike vs Tomas Konecny is lost for the mankind...

Dont shoot the messenger...

What I also found strange is that Chen Qi and Zhang Jike smoke, I saw them a few times outside doing it.

why on earth did Zhang Jike 1. Lose 2. Smoke
You would think the coaches forbid that as part of their rigorous training requirements.

i truly do not belive that thats why he shi when did so well.....top players in the world do not have issues with hidden serves and are oftentaught to hide there serves in undetectable ways.....it would be the case if every time he shi when serve wang liqin missed it or popped it up for a kill......i just think the old man played really well!!!!

He didn't hide it every time, but he hid it enough to occasionally surprise WLQ or throw him off balance.  He Zhi Wen did play well and even has very good services without the need to hide them.

As I recall both Chen and Zhang are known as "bad boys" of the National Team - bad temper and such...

MS-R32:

Wang Liqin (CHN) - He Zhi Wen (ESP) (first 4½ set only)

Here's the missing Wang vs He match. I wasn't able to record the whole match because the live stream "went down" during the match Unhappy. This is probably the reason why the match hasn't been uploaded on the ittv site.

This - together with the smoking - begs the very natural question "what exactly did he smoke there?" Wink
