What's the construction of the Iolite? I googled the site but didn't come up with the core.
Looks like hinoki on the outer plies; balsa center? That's the only way I could see something that thick being @80g. And why were coaches so keen on this blade for their up and coming juniors 10-20 years ago? High control for it's speed class? |

Jctlee's teen son who's an International "Canadian" Cadet has been playing with "these" for years. He & Jctlee (Mom) might give you their good answers/reasons.
She has been looking & scouring High & Low, Far & Wide for these (esp. this particular model).....And I managed to, thru' my local t/t buddy, find her 2 last week.... Edited by tiehwen - 10/26/2011 at 11:45am |

This topic deserves to be "bump"ed onto the forefront 'cuz I'm gonna get at least couple more of these beauties (Exactly!) AFTER the Chinese new year.
Better watching these duo than that "All Bells & whistles but nut'n at all to show for" FS topic over there somewhere.....

They are very fast. Like a Viscaria on steroids. Thicker inner ply, so even stiffer, and I always felt like they had harder outer plys. The flared versions hand handles sized for midgets, though, so maybe that is why juniors liked them. All in all, an excellent blade.

Older KLHSp-FL with metal tag & w/o serial code....Is it really such a big deal? I dunno.
I guess "Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder".

some members here are going to be lucky 'cuz. I managed to track down some brand new older versions of these classic Btfly blades.
These are some borrowed pics.: Pic. 1 - Sardius's Ver. 1 Roman fonts with no s/code and Ver. 2 normal fonts with no s/code (all short lenses) ![]() Pic. 2 - Gergely's w/long and short white-green lenses with no s/code. ![]() To some these may be gems, to others like me, well...these 2 are so so...I had my chance to own 1 of these older Ver. of Sardius's & Gergely's 10 years ago but I said "nah" to the owner/seller. I would be more than excited to own newer models of OSP blades. Stay tuned for good news for couple of members (1 in Europe & the other in SE Asia.) ![]() |

old metal tag with no serial code doesn't have to be 25 years old....
could be like 4 years old. so it's not much different than a new one. |

Now, FYI & pleasure viewing, this is the Real Old Original Kong Ling-Hui Special Anatomic, 87g. It has never been tampered with, sanded or sealed. Just fresh out of its orig. box.
