I've been playing TT for a while, not seriously though, and I've just realized that not only my serve is weak, it is also technically not legal (e.g. the ball is not on my palm, I'm not tossing the ball, etc).
So.... I need to learn how to serve. There seem to be dozens of techniques to choose from though. Which serve do you recommend to start with? For example, is this one a good option? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbBdfqBAR3E Thanks! |

A pendulum serve is a great and versatile serve that is simple and easy to learn. You will also want to develop a backhand serve for some variety.

if your partner is not good at receiving just do a medium high toss and vary the placement of the ball, first put your balls where you want and then experiment with grazing the ball with different corners of your racket, be creative and note how your opponents react
if not competing technical serves can be really annoying, some people just try too hard and we end up picking up the ball all day |

Thanks!
I'll learn the pendulum serve but I'll make sure not to be too predictable. Yeah, aside competition, who's going to check that the ball was tossed at least 6 inches? |
