I believe Jim Butler is in Texas some where - sadly his rating far below your required rating! Perhaps another planet might be more competitive for you!

I'd love to. I don't have a good camera or the right "situation" to film myself, that's why I haven't done it. |

Email the coaches and tell them you're a 5000 level player, they'll be honored to invite you and learn from you. No one there is rated higher than 2800, they're a bunch of losers.
You could also register for one of their camps (3 in May, including May 24-27): http://www.ramsports.net/sports/2011/3/21/TT_0321112919.aspx?path=tt |

He played me and lost, but since my rating is 15000 he still gained as much as going to 5000 rating himself by only playing me (he didn't score any points though)

haha.
lets quickly change the topic, before we all get in trouble. So that was why I had the question. How did the rating came along. If the highest was 5000 lets say, then will you never get a 5200 as an example?

Pretty simple I think. Atleast in the Netherlands its like this:
Competition: Lets say you get x points for a win, I dont know excatly how many you get. Play league level A: 300 points for playing in this league, you play 30 matches or less. You gain x points a win. Not based on opponents rating. Play league level B: 250 points for playing in the league, you play 30 matches or less. You gain x points a win. Not based on opponents rating. Play league level C: 200 points for playing in the league, you play 30 matches or less. You gain x points a win. Not based on opponents rating.\ etc. Tournaments: A-license: 325+ Points B-license: 275 - 325 Points C-license: 225 - 275 Points etc. Playing non official tournaments won't change rating, lower level players only have 1-3 tournaments a year to change rating, changing rating is mostly in competition. I think the us way: You play opponent, you gain/lose rating based on the difference between you and opponent. Rank 1 can't gain rating and is just rank 1. If player rank 1 doesn't play his rating will drop and rank2 will become rank 1, so it is possible to get rating as high as you want being nr2, but there is a standard amount of points you get for being/beating nr1. When you win maybe gain x points and losing will lose you x (x3-4) points? Im just guessing on the last part. The dutch part is the truth but without exact numbers. I think Netherland way is pretty nice - so if you loose against a lower rated player due to form - you won't drop that many points - same thing if you had a good day and beat a player with higher rating.

Yes this way a good or bad day won't give or lose you many points, getting the most accurate rating. Winning vs a low rated will gain you as many as a high rated in the same competition. Some people avoid the better players to get a higher win% in competition, but since most teams have atleast 1 stronger player, they will mostly play all matches.

Texas is a good place to check your Intergalactic rating. Most clubs are open in the evenings so you should be fine... |

Liberty Recreation Center and Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center, both in Plano (suburb of Dallas). But you will not find any 5000 rated players there.
![]() Check out the Plano TT club : http://www.planottc.com They also have a listing of other places around here to play. http://www.planottc.com/?page_id=28 |

Damn, I always know that for 3 players to hit the ball (where 1 player hit and run to the otherside, and all run in this circle) is damn difficult. Yet alone 1 player. He must be GOOD

as you know I never played a US rated player before. so I estimated my rating by seeing the level of other players, watching videos, etc. it is not easy to do this estimation... you don't want to set your level too high because you'll be letting yourself and others down, you'll be putting to much pressure on yourself. you don't want to set your level too low either, causing others to feel you've cheated on them or you were somehow hiding your own capabilities. I thought you were joking about the 5000 rating....
I'm also not familar with USATT rating, and not sure where I rank. But 5000 is a bit much imo... I recall about 10 years ago, Wang Liqin was rated just under 3000, was 29xx.
