Can someone cut the handle on their ZJK, ALC, ZLC, T5000 and confirm that the handles are solid?

Interesting. I also opened a TBS handle, the cpen version, and it was fully solid. At least Butterfly's cpen blades have solid handles.

Interesting. Looks like switching handle slabs would solidify the handle. Fortunately my ZLF Flared handle is well balanced because it is light at 83g, but I would imagine a 93g TB ALC may end up too head heavy. Head heavy is good for power, but bad for control, especially over the table. |

1) why doesn't Butterfly say/advertise the Timo Boll handles are hollow ?
2) Are the other Butterfly blades (non-TB) also hollow handles ?

I have korbel blade, and it's only 76 gr, with heavy head, so it could be hollow handle.

as i said before i ht with the newer korbel with silver tag made in japan and it makes the same sound as stigas wrb system.that low hollow wood sound.i went from this to a virtuoso with solid handle and it was totally different that sound was not there.also as a side note the peter korbel speed has a hollow handle as my friend took the handle off and it was hollow the regular korbel and the korbel speed made the same sound when playing with them so i am pretty sure the newer korbel has hollow handle and the older ones dont

Does anyone remember the Imperial Sensor blades – that had the screw in bottom of the handle so you could adjust the weight balance to be toward the head or not? I used to love that blade. I Googled long and hard for a picture but came up empty, unfortunately...
Anyway, I'm getting things way off track here... I apologize.

My Timo Boll ALC handle is definitely hollow (in the center). I x rayed it (as danggi suggested) two days ago and you can see clearly that there is just air in the center of the handle. I will upload some pictures tomorrow

I've found my Yinhe penhold blades to be very slightly hollow. They save maybe 1-2g and no difference could be felt.
Stiga hardwood series penhold blades are full-hollow, basically WRB w/o them saying so. Fortunately, it's easy to open the window to fill in the hollow handle. And the blades feel and perform amazing. YEO penhold is solid handle. Butterfly penholds solid handle. DHS penholds solid handle. |

What is the weight of your blade? For the ALC at least, what used to be 92g average weight became 86g in the last year or so. Is that what they've been up to, hollowing out the handles? |

I bought mine from iruiriu before the ban and i asked for a 90grams blade. When i weighted it myself it was 90grams indeed. There was always a range of weights on the ALCs and all TB series and i don 't think that the weight reduction is due to a "recent" hollow handle. I believe that all the tB series blades were manufactured with hollow handle right from the start |

If the blade is too head-heavy, you lose control. You can control the amount of power you want into your shot better if your paddle is balanced. Also, head heavy blades just feel plain heavy. I feel Butterfly TB blades are balanced, even with T05 both sides. However, full hollow blades like Stiga WRB just have terrible balance. The control is poor. So, manufacterers should state if the handle is solid, semi-hollow, or full-hollow.

I never thought TB blades were top heavy. I suppose it matters how much the hollow out of the handle. I never liked Stiga WRB blades, maybe that is why. Another issue (that people don't talk about so much) is how low the wings of the blade go, which forces where your hand rests on the handle and therefore affects the sensation of balance. I will find out soon, because I think this may be one of the big differences between the Zhang Jike blade and the Viscaria.
