description says 5 ply head and 9 ply handle? The median is 7, but the blade isn't really 7 ply...

Yasaka Galaxya or Yasaka Offensive 40. Both around 85g, both 7-ply. The Galaxya's outer ply is slightly softer, so it depends what you want in terms of feel.

I have a PG7, its relatively inexpensive ( got mine for $30 shipped). It's a decent blade considering its price. Its a very solid blade, medium hard flex and quite hard wood. I bought another PG7 and it was much lighter and much thinner, the wood grains werent as good as my first one, so they arent really manufactured consistently. This blade is well worth giving a try.

i have 3 pg7s and they are different. one stiffer than the others and less powerful. building and quality is the same and they all play well. i like the 2 more flex ones. This happens in a lot of blades. i had in the past several mlc and there were differences because power and weight. same with tb alc, musko, etc |

TBS headsize is definately smaller. I have both in my bag atm and it's pretty clear when i swap rubbers over that have been cut to a TBS :) Edit: Meaning, PG7 can lead to a head-heavy setup with the right (or wrong?) rubbers.

The 3 pg7s i have are 160 mm. Larger head than tbs. And this is a must about this blade. Without the large head and its flexibility the blade loses its sharpness. I have heard some people saying that they had pg7 with smaller head. Because the wood is not so solid the blade has a good balance and do not get head heavy.

+1. It is a great blade at an affordable price. I played with the P700 exclusively until I decided that I like 5 ply blades a little bit better.
