    Posted: 05/09/2012 at 8:06pm
So I have used the stiga offensive classics for a while. I love the feeling of the blade but now I want to have something faster as I feel that I got better (LOLOL). I'm interested the following blades

1. nittaku violin
2. stiga offensive nct
3. stiga clipper CR
4. stiga rosewood V (or XO)
5. stiga maplewood V
6. nittaku Wang Liqin

Can you suggest me what should I go for?

Cheers

If you love the feel of your blade why not try a faster or thicker rubbers? Sometimes small changes can make a big difference. ( sponge density/thickness/type).

the obvious upgrade is offensive CR. way faster, same feel.

offensive nct is slower than OC.

Offensive CR or give a try to Yinhe MC-2. I, for one, have changed from OC to MC-2. Mainly because of the retained feel and slightly bigger head.

Interesting. What is the thickness of MC-2? Is it all wood 5 plies? limba outer?

5.7 mm, 84 g., microcrystalline coating (needs additional sealing), seems limba to me, then spruce and ayous. Cpen head is 162x150.

My MC-2 cpen is 5.8mm, 86, koto outer layer. The grains and hardness is unmistakeably koto.

Construction is the same as the Hurricane King, but with inferior wood selection (and likely different gluing technique).

Probably the MC coating is preventing me from seeing the koto ripples. It has more flex than HK, more control and, of course, better feeling. Frankly speaking, I like it better than HH III which is currently taking a long nap in my blade box.

BTW, MC-2 is $19 shipped Shocked

Obvious choice, you should go for STIGA Offensive NCT and later Rosewood V. Try not to use 7-ply blade until are good and have the strength and stamina to bear the weight of these heavy blades.

I was playing for a year of and on between Primorac OFF- and Stiga OC. Then I started looking for something faster and got YEO and I am very pleased with my choice. Starting from day one transition to faster blade YEO was very smooth. I didnt notice any change in control, I just got more speed in my game, so YEO in my opinion is very good choice. I correct myself, I think control on YEO is even better than on Stiga OC.
I was also thinking about Korbel, but because Korbel was 13 euros more, I bought YEO. AS far as I know, Korbel and YEO are very similar, YEO is just inch more stiffer=faster.

For retained feel, and increased speed -- Stiga Offensive Oversize. It's only slightly larger, and retains the feel of original Stiga OC well. The weight is more however - about 90g. I recently switched to this blade and love how it resembles my old OC. :)

avalox p500 heavier than the oc you used to have could be a good choice.
p500 is similar to oc but has koto top ply which is a bit more offensive than limba.
korbel is also a nice blade with good power.
if you want to go beyond that go for 7ply.
clipper, pg7.

offensive oversize is really nice - bigger (big sweetspot) and thicker.  Only drawback is the bigger headsize - might get heavier with heavy rubbers.

MC-2 is great.

Stiga is releasing a carbon offensive classic - not sure if the carbon is on the outside (NCT), or an actual layer is introduced, or both, but looking forward to this.

You can try tube series - I hit with a tube aluminum last week and it felt nice, should be quite a bit faster but play somewhat along the same lines but its been a while since I used OC and experience with TA was limited.

Gosh, EJs are really something. They get used a blade, and suddenly he wants something faster.
At least it keeps the TT equipment economy profitable.

Blade:
Darker Speed90
Rubber Fh and Bh DHS Hurricane 3, 39/38deg

Delusion is an asset

Nobody has mentioned or suggested MW V.
Boh?
Would someone explain it, pls?
Rumour has it that it has excellent dwell, flex (?) holds the ball longer on your bat and so on.
What about its weigh?

Anyway, Psychoror, if I were U I'd try to use a bit thicker and faster rubbers as a first step, as it was suggested earlier by Mr Frogger in this post.

bro, the carbon is a layer after the outer wood plies

don't go with the maplewood 5. its kinda slow. try the rosewood xo or the OC carbon

If it were me, I'd stick with a Stiga blade; their blades tend to have a different feeling to most manufacturers, and if you like it, you should stick with them. The handle will also be the same, and so on - you don't want to change too much at once. (All that said, the YEO (or MEO, as it should be called) is a fantastic blade, and that may be the one exception here.)

The other thing you should consider is weight. How heavy is your Offensive Classic? You should not step up more than about one weight class if possible (roughly equivalent to 5 grams) - you may find that you don't like any blades heavier than your current, especially if they are head-heavy. Balance, and your perception of it, is crucial. Bearing all that in mind, I'd either go for an Offensive NCT (matched to the 'best' weight for you that you can source), or a Rosewood V or XO (again, matching weight class).

if going with MC-2 why not go with the original Stiga Optimum Sync?

sorry... i checked some pictures.. MC-2 looks like it's not a clone of Optimum Sync but rather a clone of Optimum Plus. The 2nd layer seems to be spruce. Optimum Sync 2nd layer looks same as core layer, looks like ayous.

I would go with the MC-2 or a heavier sample of MEO. Violin is really amazing if you get a heavier sample.
