Kanak just won open mini-cadet European Championship.

Here is the video of the final (vs Jannik Xu from Germany)

That's just not fair, a US boy winning the Eurochamps Wink

(Kanak was one of just a few non-European players who got a special invitation.)

Seriously though: great win, great talent!

Awesome play by both boys. Really a great match to watch.

Love the big counterlooping rallies.

Same "fair" as Keinath winning US Open Big smile.

Eurochamps used to be a "closed" championship but they opened it recently - 2-3 years ago, I believe.

It's really not an "open" tournament, foreign players have to be invited; that's quite different from the US Open. Kanak was part of a special "ITTF" delegation, all the other players were from Europe.

ARTICLE 1 : Conditions of participation
The event is open for players born on 2000, 2001, 2002... registered in an ETTU affiliated Association. The organiser reserves the right to invite one or more delegations outside ETTU members.

That is correct. What I meant is that they started to invite non-European players only just recently.

To put things in perspective, Kanak Jha turned 12 in June, is listed at 4'6" and 62 lbs - and rated 2385. The power will come naturally. Better "slow" like this than fast and inconsistent like the typical sub-2000 players...

Nice match! Hes got a lot of potential. Plays an adult game but still plays with some junior tactics.  Good touch for a young kid, Backhand seems to be missing a slower gear.
