In all fairness, this is CNT junior team, and a pity that "rest of the worlds" best is not here.
I would love to see CNT junior team VS rest of the world. It is like seeing a young Ma Lin vs the world champ JO Waldner, one has youth, the other has experience. |

Kinda sad that Hou Yingchao couldn't get out of the qualifiers - would have liked to see more of his matches.

Yes, but that is his own fault. It is ridiculous that the player of his level cannot advance out of the qualification group at such a low-level ProTour tournament. |

Agreed, but unfortunately, his loss isn't posted so we can only speculate as to what happened. He destroyed his opponent in the match he won.

Same here. I guess there's a reason we don't see him play many international events.

Let's say the match time is: 17:30 --- 15/9/2012 (The very first one, Feng Yalan.)
Question: What will be the Date and Time, in terms of US east coast's time?
Thanks in advance. Edited by skip3119 - 09/14/2012 at 2:51pm |

This might be the reason. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=UbuIwSXAn7U#t=555s Deciding championship match in the 2010 Chinese Super League. He had 4 match points against Joo Se Hyuk, but Joo won 6 points in a row, + the next set, and consequently the match and championship for his team. Edited by Anderni - 09/14/2012 at 4:38pm |

Haven't seen this player, Zhou Yu, played in the international arena before.
Came out of nowhere, Zhou Yu beat the #2 seed (WR #37) Gacina Andrej 4 -- 0.
So, there are some unknown Chinese players not in the ITTF world top 100 but their playing skill is right up there. Oh, btw, just found out that Zhou Yu is very young. Edited by skip3119 - 09/14/2012 at 5:33pm |

Zhou Yu is one of the future talent of China.
Have been in CNT B team for some time and appearing more in the A team line up - ie Olympic close trainings as practice partners. These are the future of CNT - so for the ones that think Ma Long and ZJK will last forever or win world titles for the next 8 years, please reconsider, it is not as easy as after these groups of Zhou Yu, Fang Bo, Yang An, Shang Kun etc, in 2 years you will have another "list" of possible champions Edited by ZApenholder - 09/14/2012 at 7:06pm |

Yeah, but somehow the best Chinese players either don't go to Junior events or don't perform well at they youth, tend to peak (males) after 20 yrs old to 22yrs old or so. Its like a super high jump from junior to mens in a matter of a few years. Some how the "Euro" juniors are not jumping that easily - I wonder why is the case..... |

Tomorrow, Muramatsu Yuto will play Zhou Yu. Should be an interesting match.
Muramatsu Yuto: The impressive young Japanese defensive player.
Zhou Yu: The young Chinese player (an attacker) who just beat #2 seed (4:0).
(What is Muramatsu's backhand rubber, LP? He gives attackers lots of headache.)
Hard to predict who is going to win. Edited by skip3119 - 09/14/2012 at 8:53pm |

I think you have it backwards. What really happens is that the youngsters are good, but the national team is full, so they wait their turn. Most of them play the junior events if they do when they are much younger than the competition. Koki Niwa could likely be a has-been if he was on the Chinese national team. |

Yuto has a big advantage of experience in this, as it is Zhou Yu's first ever Pro Tour. Zhou is the better player though, I see him winning by 4-2 or 4-1 despite the nervousness.

Zhou Yu defeated Joo See Hyuk in superleague so yuto mustn't be a massive obstacle

Zhou Yu just pounded the ball harder - too much power for Muramatsu to handle,

Skachkov lost to Fang Bo 1-4. He had 4 (!) setpoints in the 5th, lost them all and lost the set and match. Too bad.
So now it is Xu Xin vs Fang Bo Mikhail Paykov vs Zhou Yu Final is going to be: Xu Xin vs Zhou Yu, I am pretty sure... |
