    Posted: 10/01/2012 at 1:56pm

I ordered HRT Ebenholz NCT V penhold version on Monday, 9/17/2012 from TTNPP.  The shipment arrived on Friday, 9/21/2012.  I picked up the blade from the post office on Saturday.  10-day delivery was promised and it was fulfilled.

I started sanding the wings and the back of the handle to form a groove for my hand.  I put one layer of boiling linseed oil on Saturday evening.  I put a layer of polyurethane on Monday evening. I used a small piece of cloth each time.

Difference in price:

Stiga: approx $130.00 (source not disclosed to protect the innocence)

HRT: $25.00 + approx $6.00 shipping

I am not experienced in reviewing equipments.  I have also asked some other players to review the two blades.

On Tuesday, 9/25/2012, I glued the old DHS Tin Arc 3 and Haifu Shark II onto the HRT.  There is no significant difference in feel from the Stiga Ebenholz NCT V.  I did forehand loops, backhand loops, pushes, blocks using HRT and the blade feels very comfortable.  There was no adjustment needed in practice.  The weight of HRT feels heavier.  The handle feels thicker but then I have not finished sanding the back of the handle.

On Thursday, 9/27/2012, I had coaching lesson.  The coach tried the HRT and thought it was a good blade for the price of the blade.  Close to the table hits were quite similar.  It lacked speed in the long distance.  A 2400-player who had used Stiga Ebenholz bounced the ball on Stiga Ebenholz and HRT.  He said HRT did not have the “second speed.”  The ball coming off Stiga Ebenholz would have a faster speed than HRT.  He said the feel of the hit was similar but your opponent would see the ball faster from Stiga paddle.  He used to play with Ebenholz but now he uses Clipper.  He said there was less control for over the table strokes for Stiga Ebenholz comparing to Clipper.

On Sunday, 9/30/2012, I asked a friend to try out the two blades.  He said the Stiga blade had more speed but the Stiga had less control over the table strokes.  Relatively, the HRT was better for all around play.

My conclusion: I am satisfied with HRT.  On days I practise, I will use HRT. I will use Stiga Ebenholz NCT V to play games.  I like the extra speed in Stiga Ebenholz and there is enough control for me.

Very nice comparison. I played with HRT Rosewood V as well as Stiga RW V. I feel HRT is a bit heavier, hard-feel than the Stiga version. Stiga has a better dwell time and felt softer with looping kick.

A clone is the duplicate of the original form.  As mentioned above, there are differences in attributes. I say it is not exactly a clone.  If you are looking for a cheaper blade that is closer to Stiga Ebenholz, then this HRT will meet that requirement.

I feel the same way Simon-xuan feels about his Rosewood.  Stiga Ebenholz version has more dwell time and feels softer with a looping kick than HRT.

I have both HRT ebenholz V and stiga ebenholz V.

They are totally different blades.

Stiga ebV is fast, very flexible, medium-hard, and very high throw. The main feature of this blade is that it is fast and very high throw at the same time.

This feature is completely lost in hrt ebV: the HRT blade is very fast, but low throw. it is both harder and stiffer than stiga. faster, also. A totally different blade.
