i was watching 2011 WTTC main draw and i find out WR#2(Boll) and WR#3(Zhang) played with together in semi-finals instead of WR#2 and WR#4!
so the upcoming WTTC will be like this??? have the rules changed?

Someone else more knowledgeable than me posted the answer to this kind of question quite a while ago.
#1 at the top.
#2 at the bottom.
#3 and #4 depend on drawing.
If #3 happens to be at the lower half, then #3 will face #2 first.
If #4 happens to be at the lower half, then #4 will face #2 first.
All depends on drawing.
WR#1 --- Position 1.
WR#2 --- Position 128.
----------------------------
WR#3 & WR#4 based on drawing to occupy position 64 (upper half) or position 65 (bottom half). Edited by skip3119 - 03/26/2013 at 2:15pm |

Most sports use snake system, and modified snake system draws. In snake it would always be 1-4 2-3 in semis, but it would become boring soon because players ratings doesn't change so often, so modified snake is used (1 and 2 fixed, rest depend of luck in draw).

Does the country the players come from also matter? I mean not applicable for 1-4 since all places are Chinese but for 5-8, does this mean Boll and Ovtcharov cannot be on same side for quarters?

WTTC seedings will be based on January, 2013 world ranking which is as follows:
The ranking list looks good for the two strong German players, Boll and Ovtcharov, in that they won't play against one another in the earlier rounds. They must do extremely well before they will face each other later in the competition.
Boll and Ovtcharov will take up 2 slots of these 4 slots (32, 33, 96 & 97) depending on drawing.
They may be in two different halves.
They may be in the same half. In that case, they will only play against one another if each one wins his quarter by beating a Chinese player, and meet in the SEMI-FINAL.
So, one strong German player knocks out another strong German player early in the rounds WILL NOT HAPPEN. Edited by skip3119 - 03/28/2013 at 11:40pm |
