Xu Xin's coach, as the commentator of Xu's match, mentioned Xu's backhand rubber has changed from Japanese rubber to some Chinese tacky rubber, which was recommended by LGL. He did not say which rubber though.

This has already been revealed over in the Chinese forums.
His coach said it's H3 with special Japanese sponge.

Ladies and gentlemen! The main event of the night is about to start. Ma Longgggg versus Zhang Jikeeeee!

Zhang looks pretty pumped up. Stepping around often. Covering the forehand well after reverse pendulum serve. Ma Long picks him off and pulls ahead after the half-way point though and took the first game.

Things look a bit off for Ma Long in the second game. This time Zhang Jike turns the table around and levels the score, one game apiece.

Third game is tight. Zhang Jike is dead set on nailing his feet at the table at all cost and looking to finish business ASAP. On the rare occasion the point is dragged out, he is actively avoiding counter-topspin rally from the forehand corner. Ma Long behind in games.

Haste makes waste. Zhang Jike loses his cool in the opening of the fourth game. Sadly, the same goes for Ma Long after enjoying a short lead. Desperate situation calls for desperate measure. Timeout by Ma Long at 5-6 after dropping 3 straight points. It stops Zhang's run of points, earning himself 3 points in a row. Not so easy, says Zhang Jike. He commits to his plan to the end, beating Ma Long 3-1 in games.

Zhang Jike and Li Xiaoxia snatch the first available tickets to Tokyo.

i don't think this old line holds water any more. Ma Long has had incredible results under pressure in the last 6 months. He has pulled off virtually all close matches and it is simply not true that his performance goes down at the end. You can't really say the last two points were ML error, it was one of these shots that nobody can defend. Moreover, i don't see what was on the line, other than pride. Can you draw me a scenario where 5 people are selected and Ma long is not one of them? What exactly has to happen?

No, you are not being fair to Ma Long. He played very well and against this ZJK there is just nothing else he can do.

Ma Long lost because he directed way too many of his attacking shots into ZJK's deep FH where ZJK was just waiting for him. Also he missed a lot of opportunity shots with his flicks on semi-high balls. ZJK was in insane form today. Every single shot of his seems to be designed to kill and not to enter any sort of rally (i.e Wang Hao mode).

Did anybody notice he took a lesson from his FH serve fiasco in the pro tour finals?

Back to reverse pendulum, and I watched very closely and he was always in good shape after that serve. ML tried a few flick but they were not of good quality (i think for the reasons I described previously), and some of them got hammered back in. He eventually abandoned them.
ZJK did do a few FH serves, probably just to introduce varience, and ML managed to flick successfully some of those, although ZJK's FH serves themselves appeared of higher quality than the previous match.

That last match was embarrassing for ZJK, serve wise, and I knew he's not gona go the same road again.

ML will run 10 extra miles to avoid using his BH against ZJK. Note how often he steps around to hit with FH. Even serves he would receive with FH from the BH side. Normally players do exactly the opposite. I think that is the right strategy for ML, to put his fate in his FH, however it also reveals that he is conscious about his own BH, and he himself doesn't trust it.

And I agree with blahness, all of ZJK's loops were nasty today, very wide, super loaded with power and spin, some side spin as well... pretty impossible to counter them and get into a rally.

I cannot believe that the entire Chinese National Team does not have one woman with male style. Like this girl Lin Ye from Singapore (Feng Tianwei is pretty similar). Her game is so beautiful! Even for a man. She has gorgeous strokes! I can see her threaten CNT. I also see CNT developing their own player with that style in the future.
That
is
the future.

They have one - Guo Yue. Unfortunately, she has been expelled from the CNT just recently.

Former CNT Coach Lu Yuansheng is the first to put forward the concept "女子打法男性化(Masculinization of female style)." Guo Yue is both the first experimental subject and hopefully the last failure. The thought behind that idea is only natural but through Guo Yue's wasted talent it has been regarded as not feasible in application.
