    Posted: 03/25/2014 at 1:32pm
DHS 40+ balls (40.00mm - 40.60mm) got approved by ITTF. The new balls are made of cell-free material, but not seamless. DHS claims that all ITTF events after 07/01/2014 will use their 40+ balls.

In the end, I suppose we should thank Mr and Mrs Kuhn-ning, DHS/DFish and the person holding the seamless patent for their greedy schemes to end up in the ditch.

Not until July 1st. From DHS' press release, they are revving up production right now so they'll have enough supply before its eventual debut to the general public.

Has anyone seen any orange colored 40+ balls?  The practice arena in my basement has white walls so I really hope they release orange on July 1st too.

Damn; I was hoping to try it beforehand but obviously that won't be the case. Also; would that mean that the CNT has a huge advantage in adapting to the new balls first? Since DHS probably only supplies the CNT what's going to be used for the next two years and I doubt that they're going to give it to any other nation.

They for certain have a definite edge in adapting to the new balls. It's said the national teams at Chengdu, Beijing and Shantou were supplied an amount of 12,000 back in January.

It would make sense for DHS to supply the new seamed plastic balls to other national teams.

1. that would make them more widely accepted and used
2. good for their publicity
3. would go along with CNT's current strategy of grooming a worthy opponent

Buying DHS stands for money waste.

According to DHS technical Expertise, only 15% of the PB production would meet all ITTF standards, hence it is absolutely hopeless for common consumers to obtain PB of real quality till the end of the year 2014, and still further on.

High quality PBs shall only supply for the major ITTF events, not on retail market.

So, it would be reasonable to look to obtain some PB brands other than DHS.
I am not money waster, so I gonna to try nittaku and DF 40+ first of all, I believe its superb quality.

I wouldn't be too optimistic about DFish. They could be just as bad as DHS. I've run into cases where two out of a three-pack aren't even round to the naked eyes. Some even come in stain right out of the box.
