actually i was going to order appelgreen ST,but Tibi sold it out quickly,i now use kong linhui special and and was looking for something similar :)
anyway i will post something after today session. I will test Waldner with m2 2.0 and m2 1.8-just from bare hit i can tell that 1.8 feel way better than 2.0 :) |

As i promise after drilling session,i found that my thoughts aboud this blades are kind of wrong.
This blade has 2 souls. Slow on touchy shots, and FAST ,Very FAST,ULTRA FAST till infinity. on slow shots actually it is kind of woody.but when you are in position and prepared to kill the ball it is FAST. However maybe because of the rubbers i cannot feel the kick . In the past 6 months i have been using baracuda, now i decide to give m2 a try. AND After baracuda i feel every rubber is kind of dead in spin department :) Sweet spot is on PAR with ALC and ZLC Blade, but less than a SZLC. Tonight i will play friendly mathhes vs a guy which i overwhelm mostly so i will share my thoughs later on. Handle is one of the best things in this blade-maybe the best ST handle i ever tried. |

Ok few words,
This blade is really off blade,it is quite thick so it lack some control if you compared it with more flexible blades . Sweet spot-Everywhere is a sweet spot,no matter how you hit the ball you always got power and spin. Bigger than SZLC my opinion. Handle -Unique ,a bit large so even with heavy rubbers blade is solid. mid or close or far away never lack power, but lack control or perpahs i am used to much thinner blade type. really well built ,and compare to price/performance ratio-much better than many overpriced blades. |

Yes, abnormally large. I was quite shocked when bouncing a ball on the bare blade. Considering the construction, it's an achievement. The Appelgren feels ALL+/OFF- to me for speed. Pair that with the sweet spot and you get a great sense of control when using it. Very impressive. |

Had a quick knock with the Persson using a friend's blade.
The feeling is very nice and soft, with no vibrations. Speed is quite high, very powerful and not so easy to control, coming from a viscaria. It was also quite heavy, which didn't help. I think it would get better with a bit of practice, and could feel it should be controllable on short and passive game. I liked it, just too fast for me. Very nice blade. |

Forgot to mention: JP01 Turbo max on both sides. Didn't help with the weight. I thought the outer layer was hinoki, until I read about the composition, it really looks like it. The sweetspot was very large.
Made me curious about the Waldner, though the carbon around centre ply means the feel should be quite different, with a pronounced two-gear effect. |

Persson 89 - really quick and dynamic. Tested with Acuda S2, Genius sound, Victas V1, Acuda S1, Bluefire M2, Bluefire M3 . The result is that this blade has the best performance with hard sponge rubbers. The softer sponge is-the more problems appears (strong catapult kicking, very low throw, very poor spin abilities, low control). I recommend hard rubbers with 47° min. or more.

So, I tested a '89 Waldner (89g, 6.91mm) last night with T05 and Rakza X on it. Highlights: fantastic feel and oodles of power - a Soulspin blade for 1/2 of typical Soulspin price!
Composition: Spruce (1 mm) - Spruce (0.8 mm) - ZLC - Kiri (3 mm) - ZLC - Spruce (0.8 mm)- Spruce (1 mm). Earlier, I thought that it is basically the same construction like the Soulspin Basalt 6 / Nittaku Basaltec Inner except for the thickness & composite layer. I was wrong - those blades have Ayous as their 2nd layer. Look: Looks like a typical high quality Soulspin blade (except with a more conventional handle) Feel: A fantastically great, soft & woody feel with clear feedback. It feels softer than the Viscaria. Regarding feedback, it is of a typical Hinoki variety (so you'll love it if you like JRE or other Hinoki-outer blades) Speed: This blade feels woody in the low gears. In the high gears, it is very powerful (in between a TB-ALC / Viscaria and a MJ / TB-ZLC but closer to the latter). I'd classify it as OFF/OFF+. It feels like it has the 'catch' of catapaulty all-wood blades rather than the pingy bounce of a ZLC blade. Flex: Due to it's thickness (almost 7mm), it is quite stiff (at least as stiff as a Viscaria) Throw / Spin: It exhibits a higher throw than the Viscaria and is very spinny Rubber compatibility: I'd say 45 degrees and higher. Softer would feel mushy.

I've only tried it out against a robot unfortunately. It seemed bouncier than the JRE in the short game but less than my MJ-SZLC. Blocking seemed good and linear. The main highlights were the feel and power reserve (both big improvements over a Viscaria). Two important pointers if you do buy this blade:

I'll glue my tour and at least one of the Donic '89 blades (probably the Waldner) up this weekend. Should be able to offer impressions next week.

Thanks for the inspiration Ashish. Glued the Waldner and Vega Tour. Waldner has Rhyzm and Airoc M and Tour has Rhyzm and P7.
Just hitting solo, it feels like the Tour has more vibration, is a little slower and has a little more bite on the ball, but I'll give another update after using them in matches. |

Here are my thoughts on Vega Tour vs Waldner 89.
These are quite different blades. The VT is definitely another step softer, a little slower and 5-10g lighter on the VP->VE->VT spectrum. There is a lot of vibration on edge hits and a pretty distinct drop in speed towards the edge. My example is only 77g which is much lighter than I usually play with so comparing to the 93g and significantly thicker W89 is really apples->oranges. Comparing to its Vega brothers, the VT is my least favorite. It does offer nice looping and control is decent, I just think the feel is mushier and the sweet spot is the smallest of the three. If you love explosive power, get the VP. If you like linear response and good speed then the VE is your best option. VT might appeal to Hinoki lovers, I don't know, this is my only Hinoki blade so I may not be the target audience. The W89 on the other hand is stiffer and faster and has a bigger sweet spot. I would compare this blade much more to the Basaltec series since the construction is similar apart from ZLC replacing Basalt fabric. I've said in previous review comments that I always get good results with the Basaltec but stopped using it because of the muted feel. The W89 feels nice and crisp, and offers both powerful smashes and nice loops. Blocking is easy because of the good speed and huge sweet spot. All my shots worked just like I'm used to with the VE with perhaps some added zip when flat hitting or smashing. Anyway, Ashish, easy call for me, W89 over VT. |

Thanks....I guess there's no point going for either of these blades over a VE then.

not really fatt, the good blocker/chopper i play with has the MX-P|Axelo|O5P setup. Identical in rubber except the blade. Mine is Vega Pro. I love my VP in control and kicks.
When he blocks my close/mid table topspin, the block is very fast. He tried my VP, which in my opinion isnt a good block blade due to thinness of 5.8mm. it is just not as quick. When I compared his Axelo MX-P setup vs my VP MX-P setup the fh topspin speed is higher but the control is less due to dwell time is less. which makes total sense. |

Any particular rubbers that will fit these blades well? These blades look and feel so good, but it seems that no one really uses it for a long time.
