Just joining this mega-thread. Does anyone have the experience to compare Big Dipper to the "mainstream" hybrids such as Stiga Genesis and Yasaka Rising Dragon? I am eager to try a Chinese hybrid but the QC issues with Big Dipper worry me. Yeah I know it's only $20.

In my hand (1200 league rating at that time) I found Rising Dragon crazy spinney, while Big Dipper, the one I had, was just too hard, topsheet and sponge. Abandoned both rubbers...
(1) Juic SBA (Fl, 85 g) with Bluefire JP3 (red max) on FH and 0.6 mm DR N Desperado on BH; (2) Yinhe T7 (Fl, 87 g) with Bluefire M3 (red 2.0) on FH and 0.6 mm 755 on BH.

I find rising dragon has a very long flat trajectory
big dipper is basically a faster version of hurricane
bit easier to use, I would recommend it over rising dragon massively on fh. not so much bh

They must have some QC issues.  I got 2 sheets of big dipper and they were by far the worst rubber I have ever tried.  I tried to give them away, but nobody would take them.

Thanks for the comparisons. Despite the quality issues, I'll probably give it a try at some point.

last night I turned my bat round and used big dipper bh and hurricane neo fh.
I think I preferred it this way.

I played a match last night with big dipper on my bh. Won my three, two of which against players I sometimes/often struggle with. Attacked very well, its a bit different to H3neo but works better for me on bh I think, im going to persevere with it on my bh for the foreseeable future.

Bought BD 38deg for my BH on a Yinhe Pro 7W. Great for short high spin serves using tacky topsheet. But when you engage the sponge catapult effect starts to kick in and you can very easily loop underspin, topspin drive, topspin loop and BH flicks. But your technique has to be good. It's not as forgiving as euro style rubbers. Blocks can't be too passive as the catapult effect is not as high like euro rubbers.

Current FH rubber H3Neo Hard sponge. Tried BD on FH. Arc is higher than H3, less effort needed, slightly less spin, less speed, but is much livelier. H3Neo hard sponge with full power, proper Chinese style FH is much more deadly than the BD.

Only problem with BD 38deg if that I can't get my flat powerful drives in. It's either net or long. But I hardly use this shot so it's not a concern for me. I don't have this issue with M3.

As many have commented BD 38 is a good BH rubber if looping, flicks, topspin drives and general BH attack is your style at a much lower cost compared to euro and jap.

My only caution is that dipper is 68g ish. Everybody might not be able to handle as much weight as you seem to be able to.

I've never tried the 38 as I've been very happy with the 39. It is really heavy so I'm surprised to hear people use it on their backhand. I use it on the FH and balance it out with something really light on the backhand, otherwise the setup would be way too heavy.
I'm surprised you find BD to be slower than H3N. I switched from H3N prov 39 degree to BD 39 a few years ago and I thought it was noticeably faster. Is it possible that you're comparing 38 to something harder?

I just got in a few 2018 catalog. They list a Dipper3, pro, and tour. As of this week I'm told none are available but maybe next week.

By the way regular Dipper is no longer listed although I'm told it is still available

I got in Venus 3. Was expecting red sponge but got a blue terry cloth looking sponge. Looks nice I'm sure it is. I also got a sample blade klc off plus I might put one on.

Was there a 2? Or did I miss it when I took a break from the sport?
Any descriptions for new Dippers?

Well yes... If I use 38 on the FH when comparing to my normal H3N hard sponge (H3N does come in soft, med, hard), it is faster and more deadly on full power Chinese FH strokes.
Yes the BD is heavy I don't mind it. But to counter balance the heavy BD/H3N setup I use lead tape at the butt of the bat so it feels balanced. I'm not a real fan of light bat and rubber setup.

Somebody said they had one a year or two back but I never saw a dipper2.

It seems like they're trying to uniformly use 3 behind things right now, as though they are going to try to keep them together moving through generations.

I guess the sponges on the Venus 3 are red. I swear I saw a blue and somewhere maybe a sample.

There is Chinese description on the Dipper Pro. On the dipper 3 there is a normal spiel about energy sponge blah blah. On the tour it's blank there's nothing but coming soon.

sorry about the photo size. I'm not very good with photos on this.   obviously this is the backside of a big dipper for. I was told that it's kind of a hurricane copy, but judging by the heavy fingerprint texture on this it almost looks like it could be made by DHS.

Thanks Cole! It does look a lot like the DHS tin arc sponge. I still have a big soft spot for Big Dipper. Looking forward to these!
This was a great signature until I realised it was overrated.

It's not tuned. Looks more like old h3 but topsheet maybe not so tacky from just feeling the corner
