I don't think I'd let $11 be the deciding difference if I was looking for a rubber like tenergy.

Might as well get tenergy if that's what you're looking for.

There are websites and resellers that sell Bluefire for much less than Tenergy.  That's probably what is motivating him.

Right now, I would say try Andro Rasant Grip.  You can buy it at TimTTs.be.  Very close to Tenergy 05 on offense.

         Thanks

It is Bluefire M2.

i'd say M2. it's a bit faster and feels harder though. M3 is somewhat on the soft side but plays smoother like tenergy. if they made M2.5 it'd probably be just like T05

+1

IMHO, M2 is quite a bit softer than T05 (I've used up 4 M2 Max sheets till date).

To me, M2 is like Tenergy 05 with stabilisers...

A good rubber for sure, with no lack in spin or speed...

I left playing with Tenergy 05 for Bluefire M2, as it plays more to my strengths. There are some similarities, and some differences.

M2 hits better IMHO, spin is similar on most shots, opens as well off of backspin, throw is a little lower, M2 flattens out on harder shots, less arc.  I like pushing better with M2, and less bouncy short game.  I have only tried M3 for a few minutes, my general impression was that it favors T80 more then T05, could be misleading since I don't have any extensive playing time with M3.

T05 gives easier spin on most shots, has a slightly higher throw, loop is the main shot here.

Price aside, my level hasn't changed with the change in rubber, but I'm more comfortable for general allaround play with M2.

I've always wondered this. For example, ttnpp sells M2 for $38 while megaspin sells it for $54. How can they afford to sell it so much cheaper? Their site seems to completely ignore market pressures on a lot of more expensive rubbers, I've noticed this on many rubbers they sell.

Different overseas retailers have different approaches to making a profit.  Where other major retailers like TT11 over slight discounts up front but extended discounts with bulk purchases as well as free shipping, I suspect TTNPP offers steep discounts up front, but recoups some of their margins through their shipping fees (they charge more to ship with HK post than some taobao agents for the same goods).

But even still their profits are slimmer in the end because megaspin's price includes the convenience of a domestic/quick delivery and a high level of customer service, and in order to compete TTNPP needs to advertises prices low enough to be worth the extra week(s) it takes for delivery compared to domestic retailers should consumers shop with them.

The minimum advertised prices for dealers can also differ depending on region/continent and their distributors' discretion, which was why BTY disallowed their retailers from exporting overseas because one recent example was because BTY North America's sales were being crippled by shops like tt-japan and iruiru in Japan offering Tenergy and other goods almost 27% below their MAP in NA.  This is also probably why they distribute directly to their dealers in every region instead of appointing distributors, but not all brands employ the same model (ex. Donic) so some dealers can get away with selling at lower prices.

I recently tried M2 max again after a long bout with T05. I think they are quite a bit different in usage:
  1. Tenergy requires faster hand speed (harder sponge). If you try that fast hand speed on the M2, chances are that the ball goes in the net. No such problem with slower hand speed. This is probably related to differences in the pore sizes in sponge (that they amended in the JP02)
  2. With Tenergy you can brush on opening loops. M2 slips sometimes on brushing and needs (not-too-fast) sponge penetration (problem corrected in JP02). So, strokes need to be changed a bit
  3. M2 is easier to spin with and easier to lift backspin with (again a hard vs soft sponge thing). It goes better on harder blades than T05 does.
