To me it's just an adjusted chop. Some elements of a chop block.

We do this shot a lot in my club. The specific instance is spectacular but backhand sidespin returns are nothing special.
I like putting heavy topspin on the ball...

Once in awhile I do a variation of that shot. I call it my chop-drive. A fast chop with speed. Really messes with my opponents timing.

he did sidespin on the stroke as to give him time to react on the opponent's attack and maybe find a way to unbalance his opponent.

definetely a wrong decision by JM and I think thats not a powerfull loop. Great return by Yoshimura though he is a very creative player

everyone one makes wrong decisions many times per game so what? it was just a fantastic ad hock shot that worked on that occassion, a little simalar the the M Maze version
