Just noticed this while perusing eacheng and ttnpp.
Anyone tried it and lived to tell the tale?

They've been out of regular black power for so long I doubt it's ever coming back. I've resisted ordering the pro version but might sometime. Zeropong has it.

I cannot find it on their web site. However I noticed that they ran out of Black Power Mechanical as well. That one had black sponge, though, not blue. Is Pro version tacky? |

Same question here. " Is it Tacky?"
How is it compared to H3 Neo Prov?

I put pro, but meant to put mechanical. I got it crossed with outlaw pro.

It's non-tacky, very heavy smell coming out of the vacuum-sealed package.
Just on the robot, it seems very stable, good spin on loops. Harder sponge not great for chopping.

This one is probably heavy. Did you weigh the cut piece of rubber by any chance? |

Unfortunately not, though I can weight a 1x1 cm square if I can find the scraps somewhere. It's not light, but it's no Hurricane.
Had a knock with it on the Lissom - first impressions still stand. Very stable, great for a blocking and controlled looping. Would probably need a juicier blade to get those kill shots, though. I'd imagine boosting would do wonders too. It ain't no Big Dipper though, that's for sure.

I got a sheet from eacheng. It is non-tacky. Plays well enough in all areas. I am also trying is compared to big dipper (38 sponge) and black power w blue sponge does some things better but does not counter loop as well as BD. I could probably play with either. I think BD also blocks better and definitely chops better. I think black power w blue opens against dead, no spin or low spin balls better and may even serve better (I have a hard time serving deep with BD).
edit-I like the sponge better than the golden cake sponge. While the golden cake sponge plays well, I cannot take it off without breaking the sponge. Edited by vanjr - 02/10/2015 at 12:37pm |

Sounds like my sheet of BP, though I will add that BP worked out better for me than BD for traditional penhold backhand. Big Dipper 38 is softer, more dynamic and bouncy - Black Power is much more linear in that respect. I only had one session with Golden Cake Sponge, but from what I remember, this Blue Sponge version is better in all areas. Now if only the topsheet was (lightly) tacky like first generation Black Power...
