Borussia moved the match to Hamburg - a big city with no first-division table tennis clubs. They were hoping for 5000 spectators. League average is 400.

When I watch Wang Xi playing, I still have regrets he does not compete at an international level !
What a player !

5492 spectators.

1-1 at the break, as expected.

Fantastic atmosphere. And high quality footage too. Walks all over ITTF's recent bodge jobs in Kuwait and Qatar.
This was a great signature until I realised it was overrated.

Yes, but that's one special 3-hour event. League routine looks different.

Wang Xi will play the German Open next month, and is getting German citizenship too.

Ah well, if only it was always this way. Perhaps I'm just mentally scarred from the recent World Tour feeds.

Great match between TB and WX there.

Today, 15.00CET (in less than two and half hours) second leg:

Borussia - Saarbrücken

Zugbrücke Grenzau - Fulda Marbezell

Live coverage at: http://sportdeutschland.tv/tischtennis

It will be fun to watch.

Borussia need a miracle today: while they have to make three wins, they mustn't loose more than three games.

Achanta - Mattenet 3:0
Franziska - Apolonia 3:2

now Boll - Tokic. If Boll wins (by any score), Dusseldorf advances to the final.

Yes, normally, they should count the points but I think TB will end it now.

i think the most inexcusable result was mattenet not even winning a set against achanta. i think saarbruken making the playoffs despite having mattenet (who was one of the worst players in bundesliga this year) on their team was an awesome victory

Mattenet was among the worst players in season 2014/2015. Here are the regular season results:

http://ttbl.de/saison/spielerrangliste/

What a pity for Saarbruecken, I was rooting for them.

He's one of the worst if you look in terms of victories minus losses, which is how the Bundesliga ranks them. He's at 9 to 14, and 2-7 playing as number 1, 1-6 as 2 but 6-1 as number 3. So he was a very solid number 3, including winning against Gionis 3-1 in the first leg.

Is it wise to have such heavy competition so close the World Championships? I get that these are top athletes of the sport but I can't help but think the TTBL season could have been organized a bit better to incorporate more rest time before the WTTC.

They don't have a choice, the calendar for European clubs is very heavy. The players have to compete every weekend to make a living, unlike the state-sponsored Chinese.

Well they can't possibly compete every weekend for the whole year, can they? I'm sure there has to be an off-season too...

I just can't help but worry Timo Boll is going to be tired and Ma Long can't get his double's world championship to top off his singles world championship ;)

(I hope I did not just jinx them haha)

Suss on fire; leading 2-0 against Boll.
Suss playing with ZJK sZLC blade.

Edit : Boll won 3-2 in the end. Dusseldorf one more time is the champion !

Suss played over his usual level in the 1st 2 games but was not able to keep that high level during the entire match. Boll simply kept playing the same and it was enough.

I would have liked a decider between Düsseldorf and Fulda.
