There's no surprise here. Butterfly was made a 5-ply basswood series until late 80's. Here's a Butterfly 85 Catalog :

87 Stiga Clipper/Rakza 9.
78 Stiga Super Carbon/Calibra Tour M.

Cool photo E.Z., but Butterfly Secretin is not a 5 ply basswood blade.
It is with basswood outer plies only.
Please see the picture (posted in the forum before) and tell us the truth Big smile

Nope, it's still a 5-ply all basswood . The different is after late 70's, Butterfly changed a 5 nearly equal ply construction to the thicker center ply like you see my blades here:

I have 3 of those Secretin blades (it was my first "real" blade so I'm sort of nostalgic about it). I don't know exact production years, but I'm guessing the last part of the '70s - mid 80s.

Did you see my photo above for Butterfly Allround counter + Topspin series which includes the Surbek, Secretin, Kenny Style, Des Douglas, English Style and American Style ? Have you ever seen any English Style, regular Kenny Style (except a 3-ply construction Kenny Style) in different wood composition other than basswood?

Yes, I have seen these all,E.Z.
I have had and this model Secretin.
Our forum friend Magic_M sent me this model blade once, 3 years ago If I remember correct.
That's not so important, but I really thought this blade is not 5 ply basswood.
I sold in the last month also Des Douglas AN - is it the same construction ? Because it plays very different and was lighter...
Also I have had Korpa and still have a wonderful BTY blade also 5 ply basswood, with the name of an American player/manager (not Seemiller), with two green BTY rubbers in original...
Is Jonyer S model also 5 ply basswood?
Sorry for the off-topic questions, but I am sure these things could be interest for many forum members...
Thanks in advance, E.Z!

Those blades have the same construction but depend on head size, thickness and shape of every model plus handle shape and handle's wood type so those are play differently not counting individual blade different within the same model due to the natural of every piece of wood ply Big smile
Usually Butterfly Secretin and Tempest was rated at the lightest weight of the bunch , next was the Surbek in the middle then heaviest were Des Douglas, Kenny/American/English Style but as always there's some exception.
The Jonyer S or ST or Standard which I'm not sure as I never owned one but look at the photo I'm sure it has a basswood outer-ply. Middle and center ply you will need to ask member TKMP or liulin04 as they have it in their procession LOL

I still have 1 unplayed with the red sticker and  the French rooster on the handle.

I confirm this blade is made of 5 basswood ply, like the Des Douglas and a lot of blades from this time.

Def play grey grip 94gr, Venus 2 blue 2,2, Neubauer KO extreme 1,3mm

Okay, thank you for the confirmation!
From all these BTY 5 ply basswood blades I have tested I think the Jonyer ST was the greatest for playing, too pity it was not mine. But I have absolutely the same as playing skills blade which is produced under the SUNFLEX brand in France. I suppose BTY Secretin blades are also produced in France?

I am still searching to see an old Butterfly paddle like mine in original condition.
Butterfly Sol Schiff. Anyone?
