Since we are all playing with the new poly balls, shouldn't we be training with them too? I typically play with the poly balls all the time, but I'm doing my sessions with the coaching using the old training balls. After I do my sessions, its seems like my timing and touch is a bit off for an hour or so after I train. Should I be purchasing 40+ balls to train or is it just in my mind? That brings me to my next question. What are the best low cost 40+ training balls?
Current Setup: TBS FH T80/BH D80
Official USATT Rating 1815
Current estimated level: 1800-1900.

For polyballs, there is a $25 for 72 1-* Kinson balls that is the best I have seen so far at TTnpp.  They are clearly practice balls but they are a bit rounder than the usual so you can play more than two spin shots before going insane (though there are bad balls as well).  While different balls have different bounces etc., the changes are less stark when you topspin than flat hit as a playing style.

Avoid the XSF training balls.  Even the ones sold by megaspin are just POS.

I like putting heavy topspin on the ball...
Cybershape Carbon
FH/BH: H3P 41D.
Lumberjack TT, not for lovers of beautiful strokes. No time to train...

I find that crappy 2-star celluloid balls are almost as inconsistent and have the same weird bounce as some of the seamed polyballs, which makes them still more than adequate for multiball.

Yes, they matter.  Check out what Li Huifen uses at the grand opening of her table tennis center.  No wonder they are constantly "out of stock".

The caption says each one costs roughly HK$10(~US$1.28).

Pretty cheap. But there are at least three kinds of balls in that basket.

I was thinking about those Kinson ones, because I've been having the same dilemma and they're the only means of a training ball that is within the realm of being reasonable.

I still stand by the thinking that they just enforced plastic WAY too early.

We still don't have a reliable means for lower quality balls for these purposes.

Yes definitely! Always train in the same way as you want to play real matches.

I bought some 2-star Nittaku 40+ Japan balls from Paddle Palace.  Not too bad for awhile, more round than I expected they would be, nice weight, nice high bounce.  Problem is that when you play with them they seem to go out of round very fast.  Also, they cost the same or more than seamless ITTF approved balls.
