    Posted: 10/04/2015 at 3:15am
Hey people,

I'm currently using Hurricane on my forehand (as can be seen in my signature) but have been thinking about switching for a while now to tensor rubbers on the forehand, just to see how it feels. As I really like the relatively hard feeling of Hurricane, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a harder tensor rubber? Tenergy felt a bit too mushy for my initial liking. I was thinking Butterfly SpinArt, maybe Donic Bluefire (the hardest one, I forgot which one it was), but that's all I know. Any help is appreciated!!

Thanks in advance Smile

Tau has the brick-like hardness of hurricane, harder than boosted hurricane and plays fairly similarly.  Sigma II pro (lower throw) and Omega V Asia (higher throw) are also good contenders for hurricane replacements that feel more like tensors still.  I am actually in search of a hard tensor as a hurricane replacement too and these have been the best three so far.

I also keep trying spin art, thinking it will work for me but it never does :/

JP01 Turbo is also pretty nice, but still noticeably softer than hurricane and the other three I mentioned.

If you're like me, you like the deadness of that DHS sponge and not just the hardness and you will hate the Tensor feel on forehand.

There are several DHS rubbers with bouncier sponges but similar topsheets (Tinarc series, Hurricane 3-50, Skyline 3-60) but I've never been able to get off H3/TG3 Neo on forehand as I love that hard dead sponge and tacky topsheet.

xiom Tau.
Butterfly SpinFart is overpriced for nothing.

Im actually going back to tg3 neo this week. Tensor on fh is annoying me now. Nothing lands. I don't wanna shorten my stroke to get the shot to land from 7 ft away wtf.

You don't like playing with boosted hurricane any more?

YES. Those dead DHS sponges let you play the massive active strokes which just feels better. I don't have to cage my big forehand I can just let it rip. TG3 Neo for life.

Now if only backhand were so straightfoward...

I would use Chinese rubber like Neo or Dipper if I could block soft loops with it. I can't so I use MX-S.

It is not just the sponge, but the tacky topsheet surface that allows these "massive active strokes" to work. Once the topsheet tackiness is removed - as would be the case with any tensor - then the strokes would have to change as well.

What about spin art makes it not work? And would you say Tau is the best one for choice at the moment?

Yeah, I can't see myself getting used to something other than that Hurricane feeling any time soon. I've tried the Hurricane 3-50 and Tinarc, but they served more as backhand rubbers for me and is too soft to use on the forehand
