The one-star ABS DHS (D40+) is really weird I think, really nothing at all like the 3-star version. I was really depressed one I first hit with them, but fortunately the 3-star version arrived a few days later and I liked it.

The 1-star is likely left from the first few batches when it was first released in 2016. The 3-star didn't get released until early 2017. Given the price, there is no point in getting the 1-star at all.

Can DHS D40+ ball be used in top level table tennis tournaments, if yes, has it been used in a major tournament? Another question, does DHS have any plan to produce a premium grade plastic ball, or this will be it?
Just ordered some D40+ balls and wonder if I still need to buy some NP40+ balls.
Thanks.

WTTC Dusseldorf 2017 was the first major in which the DHS D40+ was used. The D40+ was first introduced in Korea Open 2017.
DHS will likely stick with the D40+ for the foreseeable future.

Thanks Zeio! This is really a good new development by DHS. Competition is a good thing for 40+ plastic balls.

It is very fine - if ITTF World Tour events and all ITTF Challenge tournaments can use D40+, there is no reason we cannot use it.

Ya, P40+ was used in ATTC too. With that, few people believed JNT's good results at ATTC / WTTC were because of the ball

And also with regards to the prior post with ITTF/DHS Just to let you know book4all...... USATT is forever in bed with Nittaku ITTF is in bed with DHS...but they allowed various approved balls pending host's liking if possible. This has not changed in some time even back with the celluloid balls.

For those interested, Paddle Palace just started selling the DHS D40+ balls for $19.95 for a box of 10. I had a chance to play with these balls for about 2 hours today, and was quite pleased with them. They were round, and the bounce was very consistent and predictable, and importantly, I didn't break any during my practice. The balls appear to be somewhat similar to Nittaku Premium 40+ ... Interestingly, even though I have had significant problems when switching from seamless poly balls to Nittaku, I had very little trouble adjusting to DHS D40+.

That's a huge price difference. I'm curious whether DHS has such a large price discrepancy between continents, or perhaps there's a quality difference between these balls - similar to versions of Hurricane rubbers (i.e. national, provincial, etc.) Btw, I had a second practice session playing with the D40+ balls, and the more I play with them the more I like them. I did some footwork drills, and my consistency (length of rallies, ball placement, etc) was significantly above what I've been experiencing with seamless balls - which I actually like, as long as they are round. Talking about roundness of seamless balls, I recently bought a batch of 36 Joola Flash balls, and they were horrendous. Maybe two of every ten balls were round enough to be playable.

| I sent Wil a bunch of them two months ago. For some reason, it seemed that there was an internal decision to stay with the seamless, but maybe that will change with time. I know getting free balls is a good thing but so is having a consistent durable ball and in my play, the D40+ is more consistent than the alternatives.

Next Level first ordered from ttnpp on 2/28/2017 Since then many forum members have stocked up ..... there is no quality difference only a price difference

I got 72 DHS D40+ 3* balls for $40 from TTNPP.
Trust me, the balls are excellent.
(Plus there is no reason to believe that DHS would ship good balls to the US and keep the crappy ones in China. One would actually expect the reverse, but in any case, it is not a problem).

I swapped all of my training balls to these. From my experience they do play similar to the butterfly NP40+ but I feel like with a little less spin on some shots. I think they are a bit harder and get through the sponge a bit easier so perhaps on powerful shots I'm not quite getting the spin I expect.
Besides those small differences they sure are an affordable and durable replacement for multiball and robot situations. I bought 72 x 4 for the record and they sent me extras(like 22? more), I think just to fill up the box.
Of course you can play with them in matches but most everyone in my area plays only NP40+.

Yes it is their own. Next Level has more experience with them than I do. It is not bad at all but I have only played them twice. I still prefer D40+.

Can repeat purchasers from TTNPP keep us up-to-date on any potential quality control issues. If you have a problem, provide a picture of the box with any manufacturer date.

I prefer D40+ but we use V40+ as training balls (one star) ok quality and roundness and we don’t brake that many balls.

Alright, so here are the new pictures:
Left side is the new ball, right side is the old ball
The old box says XDAG, so it was produced in April, the new one says XGAG which means July. The new ball has a slightly thinner font it seems. I don't know if it is fake or not, but those balls are definitely not idential.
