I have played both rubber, but on different blade.
- MarkV on Stiga EG - Magna on Stiga Carbonix I prefer speed more then spin, most of the time stay on table. Mark V meets my need very well and it is surprisingly spinny as well. While Magna has much reliable control, many strokes I didn't expect to make it over, but Magna has done it beautifully. So what I would do next is, MarkV on Forehand, Magna on backhand. But I have a bit of concern in using Magna, it doesn't last long, only few weeks of playing (2~3 times a week, each time 2 hours), the edge of magna has tear off so quick that while my Mark V hasn't got any of this issue for 3 months !! I didn't knock my bat to the table and i care of my rubber very well, but each time after playing, you can see another bit of the rubber has gone off, seems like it breaks by itself, I wonder this is the limitation of Stiga Natural Rubber Technology. Strange enough, it doesn't come off at the center (where you hit the ball most of the time), but started from the edge, bit by bit toward center.. scaring.. I was thinking of make MarkV both sides, but a bit too heavy... In fact if anyone has any recommendation, please help me too. ** I am penhold, start to play reverse backhand ** |

I just wanted to mention that though it's a great rubber, I found Magna quite different from other Euro/Jap rubbers I played in the past.
It's a very spinny rubber (perhaps too spinny for my liking when brand new) and the topsheet has a slightly "sticky" feel to it, somewhat similar to some chinese rubbers. It took me some time to adjust to it and I actually liked it more without glue and after playing with it for a few weeks - when some of the "stickiness" faded This is just my opinion and other users might have had different experiences. |

Hi iakovka,
no, I don't speedglue, that is why i feel strange too about the rubber-tearing-off issue. the effect of the rubber is still there although no as much as brand new. Just like VictorK mentioned, it is spinny, slightly sticky feel. Not sure whether he has the same issue as me or not ? |
