by the way, that player  beat Timothy Wang before:

so many thousands of hours of beautiful spinny looping and get destroyed by a pushblocker ought to be the most frustrating table tennis experience for a seriously trained player; yesterday night I watched 2 of them going down in style; not too bad of them to get games from jafar knowing his best trophies wins like timothy wang not too long ago.

Just a Fyi. At the time of that match in 2013 I'm fairly certain that Shuja Jafar was still using inverted on one side. He only switched to the current SP/LP set up a couple of months before before the 2016 US nationals as my doubles partner and I had to play him and Pushblocker in the over 40 doubles with his current set up.

By the way, I really enjoyed watching your doubles play from Saturday morning.  Who was Chris' partner?  Looked like you guys had a knock-down-drag-out fight with them.

I just noticed something really weird about Chris' doubles partner.  It looks like for most of his serves he started with his ball hand actually over the table.  At first I thought it was an optical illusion, but you can see  the shadow of his forearm on the table.

It's weird not just because it's illegal, but because I've just never seen anyone do that so consistently.  And none of you complained, which makes me still wonder if the video angle could be fooling me.

I'll have to check next time we play each other. I'm so used to playing him I'm not worried about what he's doing serve wise. Also as long the ball is behind the service (and obviously ball contact on serve) line where his forearm isn't relevant.

I wasn't referring to his forearm.  There is nothing wrong with having your forearm over the table, as long as the ball is behind the end line.  What I'm saying is that his hand is over the table at the start of the toss.  He tosses the ball backwards, so that when he strikes it, it's then behind the end line.  However, the start has his hand over the table which is illegal.

Vince64, congratulations for managing to play Billy Ding twice yesterday night: once in the RR and a second time in the finals: what a great night for you, you must have been happy on your way home Handshake.

for those who don't know the formula, on table 1 there are 2 groups of let's say 7 players (it varies) and so 2 RR. the semi finals will be #1 of 1st group v. #2 of 2nd group and #1 of 2nd group v. #2 of 1st group, hence the possibility of people playing twice the same night. When one does that with seed #1 it probably means the person had a very cool ping pong time.

Thanks Yazel. I lost to him deuce in the 5th in the RR. There is a advantage when you play someone all the time, the rating disparity isn’t such a big factor. I was lucky to make finals. In Seminal was down 2-0 to Vadym and
